Australia are reluctant to change their match-winning combination and are expected to keep their all-pace attack for the Ashes decider at The Oval. While the visitors lean to a four-man seam unit, England will consider calling up Monty Panesar to link with spin partner Graeme Swann on a dry surface that will lose more moisture in the lead-up to Thursday's start.

"What we see at the moment is what we expect," Ponting said at The Oval on Tuesday. "As I said after the Headingley game, we're going to have to see something really different to change the make-up of the side considering everything worked really well. The wicket looks particularly good and it could dry a little bit."

Usually such a barren pitch would make a spinner a certainty, but Nathan Hauritz chips in with wickets rather than dominating batting orders and the side coped without him in the more seam-friendly conditions in Leeds. Ponting called Hauritz a "very smart and skilful offspinner" and talked up his performance in the tour game in Canterbury, while he also reminded England of Lee's qualities during a cautious description.

"With Brett, his record suggests he is a really striking bowler who can go for a few runs," Ponting said. "If it looks like it's going to be really dry and later in the game there might be some reverse-swing, then he'll come into consideration

I'll be happy if they keep the same side, even if Hauri misses out! As long as poster boy Lee is nowhere near the side!

a dry pitch will suit a stump to stump bowler like Clark

Hauri couldn't do sh*t when it was turning sideway at Cardiff

Hopefully sanity prevails but its the Aussie selectors we are talking about here

England won the toss and chose to bat.

Australia has an unchanged lineup and for England Onions misses out and Flintoff takes his place in the side.

Does anyone else think that the Aussie bowlers are looking a tad flat so far? 1-60 isn't bad though...

Bell looks scared (wary) of the short ball.

Looks a good wicket, even though the footholes are already visible. The Sherminator is hanging in by a thread. As i type this he hits a four

I think they look very poor

they bowl at Strauss's leg stump then when the right hander Bell comes on strike they bowl at his leg stump, particularly Siddle and Johnson

terrible line on a good batting wicket

Clark will go better when the wicket is more up and down, and Hilfy doesn't have a lot when the ball is not swinging, although Clark has got a few to go

Love Nassar Hussain's comments, the ball doesn't swing here at the Oval but it does go reverse, makes you wonder how intelligent you have to be to play international cricket.

Also this pitch looks rubbish, I cant imagine what its gonna look lie on day 5.

Clark playing for Hauritz looks a masterstroke! As I said, I was happy Lee did not play but that is the only positive! This pitch is a turner!

Hauri>>>Clark's meat pies on this wicket. Clark needs conditions.

Plus the last time I looked, we don't need to win- Hauritz is a much better fieldsman and batsman.

You dick, Clark has bowled 5 overs and gone for 6 runs :? sh*tchell 5 overs for 27, and Siddle and Hilfy have been expensive as well. Thank god for Clark or the Poms could be over 150 by now......
