Great nights cricket, Watson finally showing how good he can be.

Anyone reckon Locky's floor is so clean you could eat off it?? The Hoover worked overtime last night lol.

And who let Milo Kerrigan on to the field??? He makes Ashley Piles
Look like Derek Underwood in his prime.

Gee Leeds Wanker was very quiet last night........

Well done Twatto, when the chips were down you stood up. Great players score runs when the team needs them, when series and games are on the line, on tough pitches, against great bowling attacks.

Hopefully one day he will do that.

Nah, but credit where it is due, that whack on the head was pretty ferocious and he played on. Well done Twatto, lets hope your next century isn't it in 2016.

Well done to watson.

Big test now is that he has to go on and score regular hundreds.

3 tons with his ability just isnt good enough.

be good to see Smiffy get his ton, he has been one of our most consistent batsmen over the last 12 months

I think the top 5 batting order is settled for the ashes first test down under unless injuries hit

Not sure who they will go with no6, or who the spinner will be??

Rogers
Warner
Watson
Clarke
Smith

Watson is locked for Brisbane after that. Smith too with his fighting 50.

I reckon that's the top 5 for Brisbane, with Hadds back to 7. Number 6 will be out of Doolan, Ferguson or Maddinson IMO.

His form last season saw him one of the better players in the shield. They'll have their eye on him I'm sure.

Really? I can't remember him doing anything noteworthy. Regardless, a guy averaging mid-30's in the shield as a specialist batsman has no right to be anywhere near the Test team.

He has been a lock in on zero performances, doubt he will get dumped right after a huge ton. Maybe in 2016 :sarcasm:

It is funny, Australia doing what NZ often does, picking people on one off performances in the hope that they might do it again, or talent/promise...

Watson is a talent, no question - but there's a pretty big sample there, his confidence will be up, and he might go well for a while - but there is a big sample...

Rogers, Hughes, Smith, Khawaja, Faulkner, Warner - none really stand out as likely to be good test cricketers in the long run... worry is you have a potentially excellent bunch of quicks, who will be ground down because the batting lineup will struggle for a while...

Fine innings by Watson though, and you can now assert some pressure, but WTF were England thinking picking those two - Woakes is a handy cricketer, but they have seriously good pacemen who could have played, and if they want two spinners, where the f**k is Monty? Or is he in trouble because of indiscretions?

Averaged 40 last season IIRC.

It really is him, Maddinson or Doolan. Unless someone else goes absolutely beserk in the meantime.

Monty's spat with the bouncer is what ruled him out.

I think Kerrigan is actually England's No. 4 spinner to be honest after Swann, Panesar and Tredwell but with no Panesar and Tredwell also being an offie he was the one who was selected.

And really, fair enough too. He's consistently put the numbers on at FC level for around three years now. He just looks like he completely got the yips when playing in a test match. Could happen to anyone I suppose.

Woakes too is averaging less than 30 and around 40 with the bat this season. He justifies selection virtually as a batsman and it's not like Bairstow has set the world on fire this series.

They have identified we are all but f**king useless against spin so dumped the underperforming batsman in Bairstow for their most in-form quick bowling all-rounder in Woakes. Brought in their best spinner who takes it away from the right hander in Kerrigan (would have been Panesar but for discipline) and there you go.

I completely get the tactic, and it makes double sense in a dead rubber in case it backfires (which it kinda sorta has).
