Siddle is military medium and on the last few sputters of a test match career. Even taking him over was an inept decision, let alone selecting him for a game. Once he was there it could be argued he was worth a go in the previous match but we've lost this series on our batting anyway so what difference would he have made?

They should cop it for his selection, not his missing matches

Thanks Warney

This whole thing with the weather potentially getting in the way of victory is starting to remind me of the 2009 SCG test vs South Africa.

Not sure why we are persisting with Starc, he is either wayward or easy to hit, wasting overs

Too bad Lyon has no variation besides he standard stock off-spinner. Needs to develop a top-spinner and arm-ball like Colin Miller did, as well as mix up the speeds.

I was at that test, cant remember the weather playing an issue or potentially a problem

Graeme Smith bravely batted at no 11 with broken hand, needing to survive 8 overs or so

Notch bowled him with 10 balls left in the test late on day 5

very brave effort from Smith

Highly doubt it will be the end of play. It's supposed to rain for an hour or two and then break up later into scattered showers. Annoying though

IIRC, when South Africa were 8-down (with only one wicket to go until Smith decided at the last minute to bat when they went 9-down), there were some ominous storm clouds that were threatening to pass over the SCG, but missed and went out to the western parts of Sydney.
