I think the main point is that we shouldn't have had to overcome the f**k up in the first place, everyone keeps saying "oh but they had opportunities to overcome it and they didn't" and "there was 73 minutes after the incident to win" but the fact is we shouldn't need to chase down head starts in the first place. If it hadn't gifted the sharks six points, we're not talking about it still as it wouldn't have influenced the end result. But it clearly did influence the result, that can't be denied. Of course anything else might have happened after the correct call was made, but it wasn't made and our team was chasing six more points than it should've been, it's that simple.

Do you think next year we should just ask the nrl if we can have a six point lead at the beginning of every game? The opposition still have 80mins to overcome it, so it's ok, isn't it?

You're being a dick. Teams get awarded tries from refereeing mistakes all the time. The only difference here is that the mistake that happened is a rare. So rare it's almost unbelievable.

The game is over. Time to move on.

Even if all that is true Charlie, the carry on from the Queensland public is deplorable.

Signing a petition to get a rematch or points stripped from the Sharks is ludicrous.

And then the conspiracy theories? Why hasn't anyone mentioned this before? Reading "Cowboys were robbed" etc. pages, it would seem these people have made up their mind on the back of their hero JT.

And although this was a fundamental and basic error, referees make crucial mistakes all the time which impact the outcome of the game. Calling for a rematch or stripped points illustrates the complete cluelessness amongst the Queensland public

Or, knowing it's the 5th, Tagataese doesn't run the ball, but Carney throws up a bomb and they score anyway.

Or, they run it into the in-goal, have numerous sets on the Cows line, tiring them out and eventually the Sharks win by 20.

Or, the Cowboys repel that set and many others in the game and win by 20.

Or, a million other scenarios that could have occurred because for the 72 remaining minutes of the game every single decision every single player on the field made from then on had the potential to be different from what it actually was on Saturday.

It's Logic 101 and every whinger claiming robbed has got an F.

The Sharks might of scored anyway. On the turn over Cowboys may of dropped it giving it straight back to the Sharks who score 1 min later.

Who knows the fact is a try was off a wrong call the team getting that call won by 2. Sharks belt them it's a non issue the fact it was close proves. How usless refs can be involved more then they should

Can anyone honestly say that they or the players knew at the time?

It is not like a knock on or a Shepard where defenders stop playing and hold their arms up.

They should Shouldn't the far winger drop back on the 4th? They can't only rely on refs to tell them. What if they don't hear the call?

really is looking like the game is being reffed on the back of last weeks headlines, its too obvious and repetitive for the fans to miss, so when the pendulum swings and its a very real possibility it could be in the grand final or semi in 2 weeks time, then souths fans who have tried in vein to extinguish all spot fires over this obvious issue will be up in arms carrying on and you can bet 15 teams of fans will laugh and laugh! You watch there will be a swing, there always is in the NRL 2013!!! BTW, who owns star city casino?

A rematch would be great.

Especially if it was on Thursday.

Or Friday morning.

:sarcasm:

Hey, I completely agree with everyone saying that this petition to rematch the game or overturn the result is a bad joke. Don't get me wrong, I'm with you on that, it's out of he question and I doubt anyone who signed it was seriously deep down thinking it would happen. Its just fans being angry and instead of setting trains on fire or pelting coins at players and officials, they started an internet petition. I also don't agree with some of what Thurston said regarding his origin conspiracy theory. The sharks aren't at fault here, we all know that. But this is not a case of a 50/50 strip call or a double movement or obstruction not going the right way. It's not open to interpretation nor is it acceptable that all of the fail safes put in place to avoid it happened to fail at once.
I do, however completely understand Thurstons frustrations that this has now happened twice in a row, he's entitled to be angry and ask questions.

It is the Sydney-centric media and its pivotal role it plays on the NRL heirarchy (refs through to CEO) and the NRL Commission, that is the real problem. Thats why so many refs have been dropped from an Origin series on the back of bad or wrong decision against NSW. Its the media scrutiny and the pressure placed on the NRL to make a change. Can anyone advise me when the opposite has happened? So as a referee if you want to stay in a job what do you do, you give the 50/50s against those teams to survive in such a cut-throat workplace.

To add to the bad decisions against them the Cowboys also had to endure an eye gouge and a punch to the groin region from the Sharks. Then they get abused by Sharks fans after the game on the way back to the SCG due to lack of security. And you wonder why they are dirty about their treatment in the NRL.

Why won't you address the fact that NQ scored off the back of 2 dud calls and then Manly scored off the back of 1? Thurston should be more concerned about the fact he and his team haven't played well enough.

The conspiracies, the incompitence, the lack of marketing and lack of bums on seats to go with complaint after complaint after complaint by not just me, but it seems every body now is sinking the boot in and complaining about what i have been saying for two years now.
The real problem is nothing changes, nothing gets done as everyone is saying. the code sits on its hands and does nothing for 3 years.
And as i said yesterday, that try by Sisa Waqa was atry, his body came down on top of the ball, and Roy Masters pointed out another ref incompitence and ruling that is in the rule book.
I knew myself it was, and i have mentioned that refs awarding no try is wrong, and just another excuse to snowball the benefit of the doubt rule.
I am not just making this up, this game is amateur, and everyone knows the truth now.
Like i said before the finals, the cows might as well not be in the comp, they will never win in Sydney.
If you read Roy Masters piece, he mentions what i have been saying all year, the refs might even up the penalty count, but by that time it is too late, the momentom is lost and the cows are stuffed.
The cows are in this position because they get penalised outta Sydney contests. By the time they see the ball they have made 5 sets of tackles and then cant attack because they have no gas left in the tank. So come finals they are running eight and get belted, hence the fact the Cowboys cant ever win in Sydney.
They might as well pack up shop and go join the Union boys.

hmm ive just watched it on youtube.
does any one know who controls the actual tackle count display on the screen?
initially there isnt a diffrenece between the ref and the screen but then the ref doesnt count one tackle, you can hear him outloud.
because this came off a kick but the shark got tackled instantly im assuming ONE of the refs called it a zero tackle and this is where confusion happen...
anyone else seen the youtube footage?
