I'm sure no one knows how to spell forty better than you... be it Forty-one years without a premiership or the latest score against you!

Realistically you would think they would be shot if 2 out of the big 3 got injured, but it never seems to happen.

It gets a bit old hearing this season after season and if you want to be realistic if you take any 2 of the top 3 players out of ANY team they're not going to go anywhere near as well as they would with them in it.

Sure, our top 3 are stronger than most others top 3 but that doesn't change the simple fact that any other team are still going to struggle more without 2 of their best players. It doesn't take Einstein to work it out and Storm are no different to any other team in that respect, though i'm sure a few of the geniuses on here will be quick to try and debate otherwise....

i think last night just confirmed that Melbourne wont be able to beat the Warriors if they come across them at the business end of the season.

The Warriors were without Johnson & Locke... and still managed to be right in the game until the last 10mins...

i wonder if the storm could have coped as well without Cronk & Slater...

If i was a storm fan i wouldn't have gained any confidence from last night's performance.

Nice try. Not only did we lose our best prop forward early in Bromwich, we lost Lowrie who's been in career form and were playing without our meter eater Manu.

So playing a fired up worriers team and winning comfortably 30 to 14 gives me plenty to be confident about.

If I was you...I'd be worried about just making the eight. Again.

you wanna play that game?? how about you add in to the mix that the Warriors still haven't had the services of an origin prop in Lillyman and the heart of the team Luck...

we'll see how good this Melbourne team is when they lose their "big 3" come origin time.

i've always said, Melbourne wouldn't be in half the position they're in now if Gallop forced the entire Storm team (which cheated) to disband and recruit an entire new group of players

they pretty much told everyone to fk off except the 3 best players in their respective position (in the world arguably).. 3 of the most important positions, you take any 1 of those players and send them to a lesser club, that club would build their roster around that 1 guy (ie Greg Inglis), they have ALL 3 available to them

that's where it becomes unfair, no doubt in my mind if they didn't resort to cheating the cap, they would not have kept all 3, no way in the world, we all know there's no such thing as loyalty in this day and age

so any storm fans who say "oh but we're not cheating anymore and look how good we are", that argument holds no respectability because your club is taking advantage of an occurrence which allowed you to keep those 3 crucial players who are now what your team is all about

end of debate.

You're a Melbourne fan, I don't expect you to get it. Your club has never had to fight on a level playing field. And your club has no history.

Seriously Jason? Seriously? Never had to fight on a level playing field? You're taking the piss aren't you? Then you mention history. Give yourself an upper cut mate. Look at the majority of Dragons Premierships and see how the rules favoured you at the expense of other clubs.

The Melbourne Storm have no traditional supporter base to fall back on if times get tough. No traditional juniors from which to source players. No leagues club to provide them with endless funds. They have to pay over the odds in a flat salary cap to entice players from QLD and NSW to go down there to live. A club such as Brisbane had a massive junior base and the cost of living is lower there than many other capital cities. Are they on a level playing field? How come they don't get the vitriol that the the Storm cop?

Yes the Storm get money from News Limited - but that's not going to be there forever like a leagues club funding is.

If clubs were allowed additional cap concessions for playing their own juniors the Storm would be further disadvantaged but I doubt that anyone from the Illawarra, Brisbane, South Sydney, Parramatta or Penrith would be here crying on their behalf. Cries of suck shit ya Victorian wankers would be ringing round the room.

The fact of the matter is, the Melbourne Storm are a great club that have prospered in a town where they were far more likely to fail. Due to their success there are now youngsters playing Rugby League in Victoria. If that's not worth celebrating I don't know what is. Melbourne has been our only real step forward outside our traditional area in 20 years - ok, so the Warriors are now also successful, but New Zealanders played league in Auckland before the Warriors.

Most of the dislike about the Storm stems from jealousy, pure and simple. Yes they cheated the salary cap - but it is an unfair cap in many respects and other sports make allowances for disadvantages clubs have by giving them allowances for additional funding etc. They've gotten past the cap issue, have shed players, incurred penalties that would destroy other clubs and they're top of the league. That says more positive stuff about them than I ever could.

Maybe you really haven't gotten over 1999. Go on, that's the real reason you hate them. :p

Which one are you? The douche bag or the turd sandwich? It's hard to tell.

The Canterbury Bulldogs cheated the cap in 2002 and they kept their ENTIRE squad together. All they had to do was pay them a little less money and all was forgiven. Yet here you are crapping on about the Storm should have been forced to shed all their players, players they'd discovered, not bought from other clubs. Players they'd nurtured, brought into first grade and shown the World how good players can be.

After the salary cap thing hit they lost far more than Greg Inglis. Folou had already gone, but they also lost Brett Finch, Hoffman, (though he came back once Adam Blair left), Ryan Tandy, Aiden Tolman, Brett White, Jeff Lima, Willie Isa and a few other fringe players such as Luke McDougall.

You seem to ignore the facts that the Storm have produced Billy Slater the most influential fullback since Clive Churchill and Cam Smith who has revolutionized the hooking role plus they gave league Israel Folau and Greg Inglis, two absolute superstars in their time at the Storm - no all you can do is spew moronic trash based on your own ignorance and pettiness.

How about showing the respect they're due and get over your petty hatred. It just makes you look like a prize plonker.

Its all hypothetical. You could say the same thing for other clubs. Any team would struggle initially with their 1,7,9 gone. But i think Bellamy will build the team up and get the combinations going again.. Or do you expect him to go as well?

many clubs nurture exceptional individuals but the salary cap enforces those players to either leave or be the "main attraction", well for 4 years Melbourne was exempt from that happening at all, meanwhile every other club in the league was fighting to keep a team competitive enough to fight against this will funded machine

if you wanna throw insults, you've picked the wrong guy, trust me..

also you've got me a spin here, you're defending Melbourne yet you have a Roosters signature, on the bandwagon?

If we were to grant your your wish and release Slater, Cronk and Smith, i believe Melbourne will still be competive after 1 season. Premiers after 2 seasons. Look at the players we've released to other clubs. Are they faring any better?
