f**k I can't imagine how you merkins managed 5 years ago.
So if analogue is finished
Can't they just show all channels in hd?
This whole switchover has been a cluster f**k
When the re-stacking of the digital spectrum happens TV stations will be able to have all of their channels in HD because MPEG-4 takes up less of the spectrum.
lol, so what's stopping them broadcasting the game live at 2-3 pm Sundays? Whys 4pm the magic live hour for NEIN? Grain of salt me thinks...Also said that they will broadcast the Sunday 4pm game live if the NRL schedule it
On MMM Steve Crawley said they will broadcast in HD when the main channel is able to broadcast in HD. Also said that they will broadcast the Sunday 4pm game live if the NRL schedule it
In another sign that cost cutting is taking a toll at embattled Channel 9, sports bosses have shelved plans for their new Monday night rugby league show. The Melbourne equivalent will proceed but the Sydney version has been axed due to lack of resources. Sports boss Steve Crawley confirmed the decision saying: " We have had a year of excellent coverage and we didn't want to compromise by going to air with anything less than great."
Found this on page 50 of the Sunday Telegraph.
Isn't it funny how the league/Sydney show has a lack of resources, but the AFL show gets the go-ahead. This is a station that no longer has the AFL rights and has promised to give rugby league a massive push.
I believe a late-night league review show on a Monday night on FTA would have been great. Obviously it's only AFL fans who deserve this.
Nine undecided about whether the NRL grand final will be in high definition
With less than 10 days to go until the NRL grand final the Nine Network has yet to decide whether or not it will broadcast the major sporting event in high definition (HD).
Under anti-siphoning law the free-to-air TV network is required to broadcast the game on its main channel, but it can also choose to simulcast the game on its HD channel Gem.
Asked if the network would broadcast the game in HD a Nine spokeswoman said: “We are working through some technical issues on the NRL broadcast and cannot confirm whether it will be transmitted in HD at this stage.”
Sports fans have long complained about the free-to-air channels failing to provide HD broadcasts of major sporting events.
Just this week the Seven Network was accused of “backflipping” on a commitment made to an AFL fan pressure group to broadcast this year’s grand final on its high definition (HD) channel 7Mate.
AFL fan Josh Rowe, who runs the website “AFL in HD please” which boasts some 70,000 followers on its Twitter account, this week published emails between himself and Seven Melbourne managing director Lewis Martin which appear to show that the TV network made a “confidential” commitment to broadcast the grand final on the higher quality broadcast channel.
In later correspondence, Lewis said he had not made such a commitment however, when asked to comment on what commitments the network had made Seven declined to comment saying only: “We produce our AFL coverage for our primary channel (Seven) which is a standard definition channel.”
Nine has said it is unable to say when a decision would be made.

they wont simulcast it because they get less ad revenue on digital channels than on primary channel. Until the legislation is changed to allow HD broadcasts on primary channels we will never see it in HD.
