lived on the GC for about 17 years and tweed heads is considered a part of the Gold Coast.

Problem is it isn't though. It's NSW, not QLD

So the Giants/Seagulls to be in NSW, and fail to be referred to as a QLD team is a bit of a joke. Who do you think Tweed Heads people go for in SOO? NSW of course.

btw The Giants didn't go broke, the Seagulls Leagues Club purchased the club and renamed it.

Diehard your the geniused one, how can a team be dead if they play in 4 different grades?(Premier League, Jersy Flegg, SG Ball, Harold Matthews Cup).

By the way, can you tell me any notable juniors to come out of the Gold Coast?Central Coast-Matt Orford - carving it up with the storm, would be playing origin if it wasnt for injury.
Mark O'Meley - in sensational form and current NSW rep
Glenn Morrisen - top lock forward unlucky to miss Origin this year and unfortunately out for the season.
Paul Stringer - excellent prop forward for eh Rabbitohs
Brett Kearny - excellent intechange impact player for the Rabbits

Who do the gold coast have? Wes Patten?

Correct me if Im wrong, but off the top of my head I remember Jamie Goddard, Matt Seers and Ben Ikin. All who played for the bears!

Interesting that a GC team was not required to develop these players.

ben Ikin has retired from first grade (it mightnt seem so) and matt rogers plays rugby union... im sure go the bears could have dug up heaps of CC players who have retired as well...
but what good would that be now?

Luke Covell, Anthony Laffranchi, Jamaal Lolesi and Jamie McDonald but thats all I can think of for the moment.

I believe current Gold Coast juniors in the NRL are Ben Ikin, Jamaal Lolesi, Chris Flannery and Scott Sattler. IIRC Goddard played his junior RL in North Queensland and was recruited by the Seagulls. Seers is from NSW and played fullback for NSW in State of Origin 1995.

Central Coast juniors - besides Orford, O'Meley, Morrison, Stringer, Kearney, there is also:
John Carlaw - Dragons centre
Chris Heighnington - Wests Tigers prop
Ian Henderson - Roosters hooker
Kevin Henderson - Knights wing
Karl Lovell - ex Parra backrower
Ryan O'Hara - NSW prop
Joel Penny - Cronulla? fullback/half
Justin Ryder - Wakefield/ex Knights winger
Wes Tillott - Souths fullback
Jake Wall - Balmain NSWRL forward
Danny Williams - Storm forward
Grant Wooden - ex Manly prop

flannery is from the Sunshine Coast

Kevin Campion, Wayne Bartrim, Jamie Goddard, Jason Hetherington, Scott Sattler, Adrian Vowles and Terry Cook.

* Jason Hetherington is from Baralaba, he is now back there and coaching Central Comets.
* Kevin Campion is from Sarina in North Queensland.
* Wayne Bartrim is from Kempsey in NSW. His selection for QLD in 1995 was pretty dodgy and probably only happened because of the SL war.
* Adrian Vowles played junior RL for Cunnamulla. Not on the Gold Coast.

Perhaps Daniel Backo is a GC junior?

Matt Seers?

He's a Wests junior, started off with Norths early in his career, had nothing to do with the Gold Coast.

My source was a bit dodgy. But they sounded alright. Also, how many juniors do the Roosters have? or Manly?

The issue is the potential to maintain a club there. And the juniors are definately there along with the interest and a solid platform to grow.

That is the point...not juniors....juniors dont make a successful footy club. Besides the GC would be another SE Qld club where young Qld kids could play. Like the Broncos...there team is full of non Brisbane juniors
