Well there going after Hayne, and if they manage to get him it will rock the NRL. Personally I dont think it will happen but you never know with the money on offer.

A PERSONAL approach from NSW Premier Nathan Rees was the catalyst for Kevin Sheedy to seriously consider becoming the foundation coach of the AFL's proposed 18th club, Team GWS.

More spin doctoring crap.

Trying to butter Rees up to get the stadium built no doubt.

Weidler is currently on the radio saying that the AFL has offered Jarryd Hayne a massive contract for the Western Sydney team.

Hayne's manager David Riolo is now an officially accredited AFL player manager.

Hayne would be a big loss. cutie was good but not great. Hayne is a superstar, and if he leaves, It would be safe to say he would become public enemy number 1 in Sydney.

As stated, It was on at the start of the 9 news, they spoke to a few of the ALF admins and they commented briefly and they all knew him. It could be a standard Weilder beat up but the fact they are talking about him means something. Osbourne also admitted that Hayne has not signed a new contract.

Not good. Oh well.

Back on topic... Why is Kevin Spacey coaching the AFL team? Is it for a movie or something?

It's only a half arsed attempt at Western Sydney anyway. They built a pissy little stadium which they won't even play at.
I think they're only putting their toe in the water and if it doesn't work out they could cut their losses more easily than if they built a full sized stadium and 10 people showed up.
If they were so confident they would build their own home ground just like the Gold Coast Titans did even though it wasn't finished by the time they kicked off, it was well and truly under way.

It's like this. All of us will stop watching guys like Jennings, Marshall, Thurston, Soward, Inglis etc play, so we can all come and watch Shirley coach.

this is hilarious.

as everyone else has said... who is this muppet that is allegedly rocking our sport? lol.

secondly re: hayne... yes, AFL poaching hayne would rock the nrl... for about a month... and then we'd move onto the next amazing talent that our sport will produce. our 1 strength above all of these sports - we don't need their players... but more and more frequently they seem to need ours, for one reason or another.

This article couldn't have less merit if it was written 10 years ago in Melbourne saying "Oh s**t, the Storm signed Chris Anderson, AFL is scr**ed"

It does say a lot in itself that the AFL need to look at NRL stars to generate interest in new areas. There will be a lot of interest in cutie when he first runs out for the GC. The GC is a very hard place to establish a sporting team, just ask the ARL and the FFA. Generating interest and spectators has proved extremely hard in the past and will continue to into the future.

To establish interest in a GWS team they will need to take someone like Hayne. Without an established NRL star people simply wont care. Sydney fans dont go to sporting event in large numbers and in all honesty it will divide more Swans fans in Sydney rather then generate more fans for AFL. Everyone who lives in Sydney knows about the AFL and have more then likely watched the game, we simply dont like it . Having another team wont change peoples opinions. How many people in Melbourne know and care about the Storm, not very many considering they have some of the biggest names in our game. A GWS team will incounter the same problems. Another thing AFL fans need to realize is if anyone from this new team misbehaves the Sydney media will torch them. They will not be protected like they are in Melbourne.

To say RL fans are terrified because we are talking about the AFL on a RL forum is very short sighted and simple. Its a topic because the AFL is coming into our backyard, and people in these 2 states dont live in a world were we think our game is the only game. Dont for one minute doubt the product rugby league has and think that the AFL can walk on in and take over Sydney.

Kelvin Shonky deserves to coach this bullsh*t - fabricated AFL club. A bullsh*t team that allegedly represents Great Western Sydney and will play in the Inner West of Sydney.

Not even the ghost of the great Jack Gibson could help Blacktown Celtic!

FMD the delusion is so thick in the air you could cut it with a knife!
