Daily telegraph had more column inches on this than the cricket final played last night. Yesterday they didn't have a single article about the cricket. What a joke of a newspaper... but then we all knew that already!

he should have asked if the AFL welcomed RL in Melbourne then why did the AFL have RLWC signs taken down in some part of Melbourne

Vlad and Slothfield in the same building. If Al Qaeda were at all interested in getting some good PR, they would have flown a plane into it

Holy sh*t they need to spend 220 million over 6 years just to get any sort of presence in WS and the GC? I don't think it's worth it. I also think that even with that money WS will struggle.

Favourite part

Buzz: OK, name me four suburbs in western Sydney.

Andrew: Where do I start? Blacktown, Parramatta, Campbelltown, um, um, Punchbowl. Do you want me to keep going? ... Baulkham Hills.

3 large regions and fking Punchbowl. Oh....and Baulkham Hills. I think that's where the ANZAC Bridge is?

How isn't this a code war?

He's just come out and said that the AFL want to supplant Union & Soccer and be #2

By the way he isn't definitively saying that they'll never buy another league player. Read it very carefully. It's left open.

This from the article:

Buzz: The NRL sees it as a war. What you are doing is potentially damaging to their heartland.

Had the NRL ever said they see it as a war?

The NRL seems to randomly alternate between it being a 'war' and just believing in our strengths and not engaging the opposition depending on what time of day it is.

NRL flag outside AFL HQ. No sirree!
THE footy seasons — both for the AFL and the National Rugby League are over — but that doesn't mean the rivalry gets put on hold. The word is that the NRL, eager to promote the Australia-England World Cup clash in Melbourne on Derby Day weekend, persuaded Melbourne Events to fly 100 banners promoting the game throughout the city. Which it did, everywhere but outside AFL's Docklands headquarters, where eight were hoisted but the AFL demanded they be pulled down — and they were!

Not aimed at you for a second mate. I lived in Melbourne for 6 years and know exactly what they're like. I remember this incident clearly. It reeked of little man syndrome.

The lowest form of journalism when the reporter inserts themselves into the story- shouldn't have expected anything better from Slothfueld.

I guess by NRL you are referring to our "fearless leader" the Galloping Goose?

The article is complete shit but from an AFL perspective you'd be happy with it! Which does show how a CEO who goes about his job promoting his sport (as big a tosser as he the bloke is) as opposed to our CEO who bumbles from one press conference to the next with no clear direction.

Well I'm convinced now that he's explained it. Thank you Mr. Nicodemou, I'm now a GWS member.

Very good interview imo. Demetriou seems to fulfil his role well. Maybe AFL is worth having a look at
