Good to see you're beginning to join in. Careful you don't disillusion the disciples . . . I can still get some mileage from them

A self confessed troll that is ridiculed by all....now that's something to aspire to.

f**k me he's a disingenious f**kwit. Facts are if the farce was a success, as he claimed recently, theyd be trying to sign more

Not everyone is suitable to the AFL's monotonous middle distance running. If they fail then a lot of polynesian kids with unsuitable body types are going to be put off permanently if they aren't already. Not everyone is built like a hat rack.

If they succeed then it just goes to show what a joke of a game AFL is, that two players with next to no experience can make it at their elite level.

How isn't this a code war?

He's just come out and said that the AFL want to supplant Union & Soccer and be #2

By the way he isn't definitively saying that they'll never buy another league player. Read it very carefully. It's left open.

He also lied about wanting to be no. 2 in Western Sydney. There is no question he wants to be no. 1.

A couple of years ago I was at a function where a former AFL head coach, and now some sort of AFL employee spoke. He was asked about GWS and stated they are there for 2 reasons. First, the TV deal. Second, Demetriou & the AFL believe that whoever is the dominant sport in Western Sydney in 10 years time will be the dominant sport nationally. Those were his exact words.

They are also pretty confident of winning this domination, and they don't rate the NRL as a threat over the next 10 years, because in his words, the NRL doesn't have the salary cap to match the AFL. I think this shows the arrogance and stupidity of the AFL, and also shows how important the next TV deal will be for the NRL.

I know exactly what you're talking about, I've heard that story somewhere else before.

The whole AFL expansion into NSW & QLD is based around a fear of their game being overrun by the globalisation of sport. They're competing primarily against cricket, soccer, union and rugby league - all of which have bases outside the country and thus will always have a tactical advantage to keep coming back.

The Lions have shared Brisbane for a long time with the Broncos alone and it's still a rugby league town.

Does anyone honestly think that 2 AFL teams are going to overthrow the 9 Sydney NRL teams?

The best thing the NRL can do is promote the game in Western Sydney. The 4 team Western Sydney Cup would crap all over anything the AFL can conjure up.

I hate quoting Rothfield but -

Cherry picking

IN the same week that AFL boss Andrew Demetriou declared he would not sign any more NRL players, a rumour is doing the rounds about a sneaky approach made to Manly's boom halfback Daly Cherry-Evans. In fairness to Demetriou, I'm hearing the offer came from a third party, an AFL accredited manager, and not his own agent. The agent wanted to get permission to shop him around to the AFL clubs.

Cherry-Evans has a great kicking game and would be suited in the midfield. He's smart, he's got quick hands and would easily adapt to kicking a Sherrin. Manly remain hopeful of signing him to a long-term deal in the near-future.

Someone from the AFL has indeed sounded out DCE.

That is why he hasn't taken the 4 year deal at Manly first up.

Demetriou is a slime dog and I wouldn't believe anything he says.

DCE will stay in RL, but the AFL want him to play for the Suns or GWS with the Suns being the more likely option if he ever went.

I think it's about time when the new Tv deal is done and dusted, that a couple of the wealthier NRL clubs ,do a bit of return serving and get into a couple of AFL players ,or at least boost their market price so the flips have to pay overs to retain them.
This slimeball of the AFL is starting to get to me. I hope he gets his one upmanship before the year is out.He has had a dream ride so far, some one needs to derail the train by doing a little poaching even if it is Vic AFL junniors not the spindly types..

There is no AFL player who would survive in first grade rugby league. None - well except the cutie and Folau.

We don't need to rely on whatever drug taking, schoolgirl sexing, can't-see-them-in-profile, fumbling bumbling feebling criteria that makes a "good" AFL player.
