Agreed, but I don't think Melbourne is the best example. It's hardly their fault that they are in an awfully difficult city to nurture talent.
If ya going to have a shot at anyone, make it Manly.
Also, I like the bit in red.

Not a hell of a lot of difference between Melbourne, Roosters and Manly TBPH. Yes, it has been difficult for Melbourne to nurture talent in the climate they are in but given their relationshiop, moreso in the past, with Queensland Cup sides they were able to bring through some juniors like Folau, Slater and Smith.
However I'm sure of you asked Newcastle and Wests Tigers I'm pretty sure they would have been happier if they didn't have to compete with the big dollars thrown at Greg Inglis and Ryan Hoffmann to leave their junior set ups and locate to Brisbane and then Melbourne.
A good number of the current Melbourne NYC side were hand selected from other clubs as well.
The essence of the story is Melbourne may have had a side reach the finals this year in SG Ball but they will still continue to chase the signatures of the best talent regardless. You just have to look at the Roosters 2004 premiership winning Flegg side - those kids were brought in from many other clubs yet none of them remain at the club 5 years on and very few played first grade for the Roosters. Jamie Soward was the last to leave.
