Yep and then i'd go and sue the government over it. Not.

I didn't say you would, that would be completely illogical. But by your own logic, you wouldn't complain or take any action against anyone because you knew the risks...

See how stupid it sounds to say McKinnon "knew the risks"? We all know the f**king risks of doing anything. What do you suggest, we stop doing those things?

I think that would be a deliberate act wouldnt you?

What motion did McLean make during the tackle that day that was not intentional?

It was a deliberate illegal act with unintended consequences. It wasn't an accident

but you can't sue the Government for making the road or sue the cops/courts for letting a dunk drive and not having harsh enough penalties for doing so

I would if I could. Unfortunately for the NRL they aren't able to make laws to prevent themselves being sued. The point is "knowing the risks" is a pissy reason to expect a quadriplegic to not sue after he was injured by an illegal tackle.

Was it deliberate? Or was it in the speed and commotion of a tackle these things sometimes happen? As said since then we have seen at least one every round occur, given the suspensions and outcome for Alex do you really think players would continue to deliberately do it?

I'm not saying he shouldn't be complaining about it but to go after the NRL for an injury that happened while playing to me seems ridiculous. Go after the other player if you want, it wasn't the NRL that picked up Alex and made the tackle. The NRL cannot control the actions of the players on the field.

Mclean got suspended for the tackle that broke McKinnon's neck didn't he?

I'd say he's f**ked then.
Other blokes have lost for less.
This is super high profile with dramatic life changing consequences to the victim....it's all on film.

If Carney can sue the sharks for sacking him for being filmed pissing into his own mouth
Then Alex McKinnon's case is unlosable.

send offs haven't stopped other illegal plays from happening so you're speaking shit

Really? So there's exactly as many spear tackles, high shots, elbows, punches and so on now as there were say forty years ago are there?

Of course send offs have stopped illegal plays. The odd one will happen here and there but nothing like it used to. Do you think that's happened because footy players have suddenly become beacons of virtue?

you could never prove it was intentional

it looked pretty innocuous compared to other tackles that have happened where there was no injury

But the NRL could have absolutely done more prevent their employees from making tackles like that.

You wouldn't sue the government if a bloke king hit you in pub...you'd probably sue the pub if it was a bouncer who did it though

This will be interesting....

What happen if a court finds that alex contributed to the accident by tucking his head under? Cos its gonna be very hard to prove it didn't play a part, even more so that it wasn't the deciding factor..

Alex should be looked after for the rest of his life absolutely but i think he needs to be careful cos this could quite easily go against him imo..

No doubt he is acting on legal advice.

Whats next?

NRL player pulls knife out socks and stabs another player. NRL sued because metal detecters and body searches aren't performed before each match''.

nobody thinks it was an intentional neck snapping tactic.
but
"Innocuous" is the last word I'd be using to describe it.
It looked sickening.
I saw it live and thought ....wow this bloke's going to be sent off for a wicked spear tackle.

He was virtually tackled before he was lifted and then dropped on his neck.
