In the early 70's, l stayed at Forbes for several days and the outdoor dunny wasn't unlike this model.

The old tin dunnys , a place where a man could have a real bog in style and comfort and with the sounds of nature ( both animal and man-made ) in abundance ! :snake:

I actually don’t think we are in terrible shape. We have a pretty fit, tough and gritty side that just needs a player or two and some polish. If JDB beats his charges I’m sure Bennett will resign him, apparently he’s still the second fittest in our club to only Lomax. Would love to see how Bennett uses him.

Ey???? We are a SHAMBLES!!!! Spine is shocking... we have shocking wingers... shocking centres.... we have lost Tyson... we have signed nobody and the coach we want can’t actually coach.

I would be happy with Flanno and shepherd taking over anytime soon .
Bennett would be great but as others have said he is under contract at souths where he will pass the reins over to Jd .. Sure he may bring players across but I think Flanno is just as astute with player talent and seems to be able to bring the best out of players ( fifita) And with the fact he watches lower grades can see more talent and can work on lower players abilities . I would not want to sign wayne for 2 to 3 years get some level of success and then have to start again .. Flanno can achieve the same and after listening to him last night he sounds pretty well like he has a plan for when he takes over

Who in the spine do you suggest we replace and who recruited those players? My view is:

With Aitken and Lafai of- contract and if we let go Hunt and Norman, we would have over 2.5m savings on todays cap value.

If we keep Hut we need him to play at 9 and tackling machne McInnes to 13. I like the idea of a Flanagan / Clune halves combo and remember we still have Sulivan coming through. In my opinion the Norman / Hunt combo is a failed experiment but much of this has to do with the coach and his game plan - or lack of.

if Bennett goes back to you guys, Flanno will be as gone as Mary, There is an intense dislike between Wayne and Shane.
Whoever said about Dean Young training under the master is spot on if this rumour is true
I am dead set against the Ol boys club, however I think Deano would certainly be a hard task master & wouldn’t accept anything other than what he demands. The question is, would that be high enough to ensure previous relationships mean SFA.

no. just no. he may turn out to be a good coach one day, but he MUST prove it elsewhere first. Sick of rookies with no idea, only with connections to the club as their way in.
Gimme Fitzgibbon if we want a completely new direction, the walker brothers if they are still around.

The following is an article from Foxsports on 15 April for your info guys.

URL LINK: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...t/news-story/261eb105f74916264bca3ca863702b34

St George Illawarra assistant coach Shane Flanagan has smacked down rumours of a homecoming for premiership coach Wayne Bennett after whispers of his return to the Red V reignited recently.

Bennett, who is contracted to South Sydney until the end of 2021, has been linked with a move back to the Dragons as soon as next season.

The NRL’s most accomplished coach won a premiership with the Dragons in 2010, and a poor start to the season has heaped pressure on current mentor Paul McGregor, who has held the reins for six seasons for minimal success.

However, speaking on Fox League on Wednesday night, Flanagan said he couldn’t see the Dragons considering a coaching change now in the middle of the coronavirus shutdown.

“I’d be very surprised. The club is 100 per cent behind Paul McGregor, he’s doing a really good job. We didn’t get off to a great start but who knows what the rest of the season holds,” he said

“The club is really united and working really hard from top to bottom and I’d be really surprised if that was on the club’s agenda, especially at the moment.

“We’re all working hard and he’s working harder than everyone else and to think that they’re going to have a coach change in this period of time is way off the mark.”

Although Bennett is contracted until the end of 2021, the Rabbitohs have named his successor in Jason Demetriou, meaning his time at the club will come to an end next season.

“There’s no recruitment going on, there’s no training going on, and I’m sure Paul and the recruitment staff have got their head around possible people that we could recruit to the club next year.

“And let’s be honest, he’ll be hard to replace. He’s an Origin and Test player.

“They’re just not out there to grab and we might have to get a younger one and hope that he develops into a Tyson Frizell but I’m sure the club is thinking about what’s next.”

Interesting that Flanagan has said that the club is 100 percent behind McGregor.

Walker bro’s, really?

Their methods were a 180 degree turn on the status quo. They had one year of success in 2015. I’m just not sure unstructured football would suit the nrl, or nrl footballers who have known nothing but that style of play. It would certainly be entertaining to watch though.

It was partly tongue in cheek, Fitz was the real example of a rookie Id give a chance to.
I was loathe to be one that said 'anyone but Mary' as we said the same thing about Price, but f**k it im at that stage. Anyone but Mary. Get him out. Blacklist him. Have a captain coach or caretaker, i dont care. Just get him out

How do you let Hunt and Norman go. They are under contract

Our centres are off contract at the same time and its a great thing. Losing them gives us what, 600-700k under the old cap?
The Feg twins might not be ready yet, which means Williame has one spot, and we need to find a stand in until they are both ready

Exactly. This point is very often overlooked, or ignored or both.

Letting someone go would constitute us having to pay freight for maybe 1 , 2 or 3 years, depending on the player, which ultimately plays havoc with our cap. Of course add to that, is the other fact that someone else wants to pick them up eg Aitken this year, was offered but no takers.
