Wests Tigers wouldn't be paying for any of the upgrades anyway and madunit I don't think it's fair playing more games at Campbelltown than at LO. We gotta keep it half and half otherwise too many fans will get pissed off and turn their back on the joint-venture. Maybe next year they will have 4 at C'town, 4 at LO and 4 at Homebush. If they eventually get no money from the leagues clubs then they might have to move to homebush fulltime. And they never promised we would get more games at c'town or lo, even if those grounds get updated. It would increase the chance though.

Alien, after a while it will have to come down to where the larger fan base is and will continue to be.It may not be fair, but it may be the best and only option to have true 'home' games, as opposed to playing at more home venues than away venues in a season.

If the team wants stability in it's foundation, fan base and finances, it needs to set up a permanent home ground which it plays at least 80% of its home games from.

Leichhardt's upgrade is a long way off.

Campbelltown is at least a safe ground to attend, the majority of the population out there would be former Magpies supporters, thus it is a logical base for the club, irrespective of whether its a fair 50/50 split or not.

I think if the club wishes to move forward it's going to have to look at being a seperate entity to Balmain and Western Suburbs. Otherwise it will also follow down the same paths as those two foundation teams.

Keep in mind that I would love nothing more for the Tigers to play half their games at Leichhardt and half at Cambelltown, but at the end of the day, that's a long way from happening, if at all, and Cambelltown has a much bigger supporter area and a better ground to play from, which can be upgraded quite easily if more games are played from there.

I can see ur point of view but alot of the balmain people would turn their backs on the wests tigers and we would end up getting crowds like st.george illawarra

They may do that, but come sooner or later, the club will be making this decision.

If they don't want to alienate anyone, then the only real viable alternative is to build their very own stadium, halfway between Lumeah and Leichhardt and base the club there.

To be honest I can't see the latter happening, just like I can't see anyone handing over the funds to fix up Leichhardt in a hurry either.

Thus, the remaining option is to head West.

balmain v magpies aside, crowds will come if the club is winning regardless.
playing out of certain grounds really should come down to what is finically better for the club.

i think season tickets hinge on people like us, who may decide not to renew based on the ground it's at.
but the casual supporter base is where most of the money would come from, i imagine.
and for the casual support they need something that is easy to access and close to where people can get too.
which is why the club continues with homeush.

personally, i would love 8 games at campbelltown and 4 at balmain, but the 4 at balmain being local or rival teams, playing teams like parra, easts, souths, dragons or penrith which would have a much better chance of getting larger crowds and a much better atmosphere.
with out of towners and teams closer to the southwest playing at campbelltown, ie. raides, bulldogs and the nullas, as well as storm, warriors etc.

What the f**k have the campbelltown people done to deserve 8 games aids ?
The crowds there are sh*t whether Sunday arvo, mon night, sat night (as we'll see in 2 weeks)
Leichhardt can draw crowds on a Fri night, Sat 5.30, sunday arvo, mon night. What a load of bollocks. Balmain is a 50% partner and your fanciful, deluded and misguided want for more games at that third world sh*t tip in north canberra are fanciful at best. It won't happen and you magpies fans need to remember that the Tiger is the key ingredient of the JV (in terms of branding - the wests name counts for f**k all and you wests lot know it), not to mention you wests lot would have been playing against Belrose and Wentworthville had it not been for us.

As for campbelltown, how many games have we actually won there in the last 4 yrs ? The players hate it and the westies can't be f**ked turning up.
