Because Gus didnt interview him or anyone else.

They dont share the same coaching philosophy.. as Hook kept saying. An interview might have caught that.

Not interviewing was a big mistake.

Griffin sounds like he’s never even considered adapting or changing his style. We have had so many skilled players for him to work with and he just to grind.

He’ll never last more than a few season at one job as a head coach, that kind of stubbornness just kills relationships. There’s no wonder his entire coaching career has been punctuated with rumours of unrest and unhappy players.

There is more to the Phillips thing. Given he off with Origin that part is strange to me.

Again though. Griffin thought he was doing what was best. You give him a target... Say top 4. He either gets it or gets fired. How he gets there doesn't matter just that we get there.

It is clear from the interview. He had different objectives to Gus as far as where we should be was. Nothing wrong with that just comes to my above point

It’s clear he wasn’t afraid to lie also. Juniors a mess my ass, he’s a delusional fool.

Where did he say juniors were a mess? Just said no pathway for them into FG

I thought the part after where he said. Some teams have strong juniors but no pathway was the giveaway. What was meant seems not

He also said if Gus did any work before he got there it wasn't anything constructive. He was definitely setting himself up as the guy who fixed everything.

Cleary's development was pre Griffin

That's just off the top of my head while I'm rushing at work.

There’s no doubt Gus is hard to work with but he’s managed to maintain working relationships with players and administrators across a number of clubs and nswrl for a lot success.

When’s Griffin had success? He came 2nd in Qld cup that one time. Won a premiership with Brisbane north’s colts team 15 years ago. He’s done nothing but coachat two nrl clubs and have both get rid of him.

This the actual comment. Soward, Seg etc don't get moved on early. We don't see the guys in the team we have now.

That part is true... Whether or not any other coach makes the same calls who knows

Which is also not true.

Then why didn’t we keep Cleary??

If all these juniors were already coming through & there was no issue blooding them, why did we specifically go out & select a coach known for developing juniors & bringing them into first grade?

Seems a bit strange to do that if everything was rosey as you say it was.

Carty, RCG,Katoa, Chris Smith I think there are others.

Cleary didn’t have we’ll established and successful junior teams when he arrived otherwise there would of been more debutants.

Gus’ biggest priority in this job was the juniors, he came in talking bout fixing our juniors. Hook just got to take advantage of Gus and Clearys years of hard work.

Are you saying we didn’t have successful lower grade teams before hook?

We had blooded many juniors under Cleary, there was obviously a pathway for them, it’s a fact.

Why don’t you think for yourself, have you forgotten all the juniors Cleary brought through?

Just because a player was at a club doesn’t mean they were already developed.

You’ve completely missed the point.

For example, Everyone agreed N Cleary wouldn’t of got a run under his dad for another 2+ years if he was still head coach. He probably wouldn’t of even played NSW Cup.

We had an aging squad. We needed to get the kids into grade. How many established players got the tap on the shoulder over the last few years?

That comment isn't true or at least is only partially true. He definitely contributed but it's not all on him as he'd have us believe.

He also said what I mentioned in my last comment about the qork pre Griffin either didn't happen or wasn't constructive. Why ignore that for another of his comments?

Lmao.

Yeah..hook developed all the juniors. Even those in the system before he arrived.

Nevermind that his only contribution was pushing out experienced guys. Giving them a shot and slowly moulding them into robots and removing what made them special.

Gould wants to develop players that aren't robots. Hook refused.
