Last night we had Hodges on TV saying Gus used to undermine Ricky Stuart at the Roosters.
If success is only measured by winning the premiership, quite correct.Nice of Ricky to listen to Gus then, because that period at the Roosters is the only success he has ever had as a coach.

Look I don't like him either but he was entitled to coach the team without interference. In Stuart's case, there is no possible other metric for success he can be measured on.
The players were going to Ciraldo more over the past few months and bypassing Hook.
I also mentioned last week that the players have been told they are no longer required to defend Hook publicly.

You handpick someone to do a job, and then you start to tell them how to do that job, which is certainly how it appears in both cases, it's a bit disrespectful and not surprising they'd get their back up.
Then the question remains - were they going to Ciraldo for translations of what Griffin wanted, or was Ciraldo giving them his own instructions? If it is the latter, you would have expected Griffin to walk a lot sooner if he didn't have any say in the team, and it wouldn't speak well to Ciraldo's coaching if he is responsible for the last two months of performances.
You have to assume it was the former?
Not any more. Nor is he Hook's any more. Or Cleary.Ricky has a pattern. Good first year followed by crash and burn. Done it at multiple clubs so I'd say Gus isn't his problem

Why does somebody giving advice to a coach with less experience, undermine them? It is that type of attitude that is bad for a club, it stops people collaborating. If Gus wants to coach, why wouldn't he just apply for the positions that come up? Makes no sense to me.
Yeah I remember. Fair enough. Hope that's a good thing for while he's coaching.
Except we played the same with just Ciraldo in charge..Maybe he was why we were struggling? I guess time will tell

He was a young coach at the time and that 'interference' helped him coach Roosters yo a premiership.Look I don't like him either but he was entitled to coach the team without interference.

What we are hearing is that Gus was telling the coach which players to pick. This is going beyond what is reasonable.Hook refused to work with him here and for all we know that could have stopped us winning a premiership.
I hope not. Though 1 game isn't enough. I gave Griffin 3 years and even then I feel so mixed on him. so I'll be fair on Ciro.
