So was Gus against Wallace playing because of his injuries? Most of us hsted seeing him play busted too.

And it turns out he was more busted than any of us knew. Those knees should not be operational at all.

Maybe 30 years ago.

Coaching at this professional level has changed now. Why would we put millions of dollars worth of talent in the hands of one guy and let him run the show on his own? We have doctors, physios, assistants and trainers for a reason. It’s not to undermine the coach.

Coaching staffs are big for a reason, a head coach who wants micromanage his team is a thing of the past.

It’s mindboggling that people think hook or any coach should have free reign to do as he pleases. How did that work out for the dogs and Hasler?
It is why EPL teams now have a director of football who controls recruitment and retention. The model is for coaches to come in and coach and not replace all the staff, the players, the processes and so on. It costs a fortune and the club loses its way. The coach asks for certain players and the club will try and get them, but sometimes they will overrule and say "he is too old, too injury prone. You can't have that player". It means a club having a strategy about how they want to play, develop resources and recruit.

The Panthers are clear they are a development club. They don't want a coach who wants to sign big name players. They want a coach who will bring on youngsters and get them to play entertaining football. Give them guidance and help to grow as first graders. It now seems they also want a collaborative, winning culture, a servant leader, not a Napoleon, god like superman. Amen to that.

That's a system I can get behind.

That is how it should be. Clearly define roles. The coach knows what level the team needs to be at... Gus and co stay out unless they are brought in by the coach.

Why does the fact Griffin got messages of support signify anything that the team are a bunch of good guys who were respectful of Hook? I have worked with people I didn't like who got sacked, I still offered them best wishes and support. What sort of a#sehole brushes somebody they have worked with for three years when they get sacked? I would be very disappointed in the team if they hadn't shown some respect to a guy who has coached and mentored many of them and given many there start in first grade.

Life is never so simple as "Hook was hated". I doubt he was. He is a country boy with smile on his face most of the time and has a dry sense of humour. He is not unlikeable even if he is a bit Napoleon like in his leadership style and his game plans suck the big one. I expect some disliked him, some couldn't give a stuff and some liked him because he gave them help. The fact we still win games and are tough as nails implies things weren't that bad in the dressing room. The are so many shades of grey. The press try to make it black and white. Life just isn't like that.

The author's name is not given. News Ltd, which includes Fox, have generally taken the Griffin side though, while Nine have taken the Gould side.

My position on this is in accordance with who appears to me to best pass the credibility test.
f**k their agendas.

The club had every right to sack their employee. You don't get sacked with a huge payout unless there are good and legitimate reasons.

But they had no right to try signing Ivan now. Ask him about future is fine. But encouraging him to break a contract in anyway is not. For all we know that's all that happened. But whatever did happen I am happy for Panthers to play the villain role here. Not for sacking Hook though.

Other clubs don't get crucified for it. Dessie was the villain when Bulldogs sacked him and they tried f**king him out of money. We didn't do that to Hook. He got everything we owed him.

Exactly.

It's polite and easy to do. Doesnt mean you actually give a shit. They single out Nathan for Panthers who messaged him. Yet he clearly is one player who was on track to have every dream he has had fulfilled.

According to the lurker. Hook has some damming emails from Gus.

I don't know the legal ramifications about this.

If Hook releases these emails he won't work in the industry again.

I'm not painting Gus as an angel here either. I'm sure he has let fly on occassion too.
I want to see them.

I bet they're not as bad as Hook thinks. He has a warped sense of reality. His comments about the club when he arrived prove it, as does him thinking text messages mean much more than a token gesture.

To a few it might have. But a text message is cheap and easy to send. Shit a signed card is worth more and we've probably all signed one for someone we dont think much about at all since then

He also said Ciraldo being involved was Gus undermining him.

Hook is not going to win this. Unless the emails are totally damming. Hook appears not to read situations well either.

Why do I get the feeling that News Ltd are going all out here to point score.

What does he have to lose? won't work in coaching again. Can be News Limited puppet in the fight against Gus

I said before as per Daz earlier here. Gus did tactics in 2016 it worked... yet the last few months same thing Ciraldo/Gus and we played terrible.

To me it says in 2016 was working with Hook. This year was behind his back. who knows maybe

TBH i think he already is winning this in the face of the public.

I still don't know why Gus thought making it personal was a good idea regardless of the truth.

Oh OK. I think that Hook made it very personal on Wednesday night. Hook's comments about Gus's work ethic, or the state of the club when he arrived. He was big noting himself.

I think Hook is winning the PR war from fans away from the club. Most fans and members are not convinced by this.

Hook will not get another NRL coaching gig (head) especially if he dumps.

Hook knows from his time here. News Limited hates us..He wouldn't known exactly what he was doing. Just don't give him a reply

Here it is:

Everyone knows it's been ugly at Penrith as sacked coach Anthony Griffin and club supremo Phil Gould threw mud at each other over the past week.

And after a few days of letting the dirt settle, I’m hearing there is still more to come in the future.

Apparently, Griffin has some damning emails from Gould sitting in his computer.

He is debating whether to release them - and may well make them public if things heat up between the pair again.
