Getting 50 put on us by the Broncs doesn't count as performance based?
Absolutely it was a shithouse performance - no arguments here. I wanted Hook gone as much as anyone, but the timing looks to have been a misjudgment from the board. Should have made the decision then sacked him at seasons end. My opinion anyway.

Per the following, I understood it was Hook's call to go straight away:

I thought I remembered Gus actually saying that it was Hook's call to go now - but I can't find a clip anywhere so maybe not.

If Gus saw it as a win now proposition, why has he simultaneously built such an inexperienced squad? The strategy is all over the place.
We had lost quite a bit of experience during the season. Macca,Wallace ,Maloney,DWZ were out,now Whare and Tim Browne. It's no wonder the squad is so inexperienced. But as history has proven for us,the players from here on will be getting valuable experience.

The squad was one of the most inexperienced with those guys in it.

Not sure what history you’re talking about? This club has had few guys play over 200 games. We’ve long been a club that’s chewed up players and spat them out.

As I said, sure make the decision that he needs to go but tell him at the end of the season. You don't tell staff at your office, "Look Anthony, we need to let you go because of performance issues, but please stay on for the next 5-8 weeks". You give them a letter of immediate termination with a severance package. Anyone with a half decent set of soft skills knows this.

Its not rocket surgery.

I'll bet you one thing, and that is that they won't do it again. Ever. Unless this side miraculously recovers, this year and its missed opportunity will live forever in infamy.

Manly sucks almost as much as Hook.
Don't own a gauge for measuring suckage so can't comment.

Hypothetical question (prompted by martielang's post).

IF the Panthers go on to win this year's GF, should Griffin be allowed to do the lap of honour with the team?

What did they say?
I thought it was pre-recorded,as he wasn't seen during the pre-match yap. Griffin was complimentary towards Penrith. And he noted what they needed to do in the Pen V Warr game.So no,it wasn't a whinge-a-thon.

And in fact,it would be a nice touch if Griffin could become a guest of the Panthers club on the night if we won a GF.
