Nathan played the same in origin. He is just in horrible form ATM as is most of our team
Horrible form how? He was huge in todays comeback. His form seems fine. The job he currently has is not.

He needs to be allowed to play ad lib footy. When we need a comeback and throw the game pland out he's always one of our better players.

How many teams let you play ab lib footy though? Manly was able to not use 2 benchies today due to how slow it was.

Look at last night Knights v NQ. Neither team I'd say slows it down. Yet it took 2 mins for one set. Levi took his time when being binned. Then Pearce was bleeding and they took more time stopping the game to patch him up.

2016 when we played that great footy. Atleast watching games it seemed less stop start and more chances for ab lib footy.

Our players won after whatever shit our coaching staff wanted was thrown out the window.

Manly were the better team for 60+ minutes. Nothing that won us the game was coached.

Manly miss a penalty goal and Cleary intercepts it. Kikau makes a tackle that accidentally knocks the ball out and Cleary scores from it.
But you could say that about anything that happens, "The coach didn't teach them that". The coach picked the team, managed their conditioning, planned the tactics, the net result is we win. Did the coach tell Tamou to give away 3 penalties, or for Maloney to kick out on the full? You can't cherry pick the good things and say 'that's not the coach" and blame the coach for the bad things.

If Manly can't beat us with a fifth choice fullback, 2nd choice hooker, 2 lame wingers and missing our best prop, then maybe they are the wins who should be sacking their coach.

I mean, has he ever played ad lib footy?

I honestly don’t think he has it in his game.

The thing he did really well in those last 15 mins was run, and run fast & straight. He should drift to the edges more and do that.

He’s clueless. He thought our first 30 was pretty good.

We looked directionless in that period. Sure the next 30 was worse, but that early 30 showed we had little idea in structured attack.

We had very little ball and scored first real chance we had. The score was 8-6 at half time. I think he is spot on. We held the line well, in spite of a lop sided penalty count and took our first real opportunity. Then we went to sleep after half-time.

We had 47% of the ball in the first half, that’s hardly very little. Penalties were 4 a piece. I think it was 3-2 penalties to the sea eagles in the first 30. That’s not lop sided.

Didn't we have 2 or 3 sets in their half and failed to score to start the game?

The less control our coaching staff have over the things you mention. The better we have looked lately

I say coaching staff as I dont believe it all comes back to Hook. Ciraldo and Gus are a part of how our team plays too. In good and in bad.

Exactly what good was there in that game? A side trying to avoid a wooden spoon outplayed us for 80% of the game. We got the win which is great... but that game just confirmed how far off the pace we are. The taleng is there. But Hook is not getting this roster playing well at all.

Our defence through the middle is the softest in the competition. Defence is attitude and structure which our coaching staff need to fix asap.

We only looked good today when we just threw the game plan out and the players just did their own thing. Hook didn't coach that win.
I see, that sounds logical. He coaches the losses and not the wins. What a horrible job, not wanted when its good, but when its bad he gets a gig. You are a very fair man, I see why they made you a moderator.

He coached the win by building the teams defensive structures that saw them hold out in the first half without the ball. He coached the win by creating a team environment that encourages tenacity and teamwork, so they never give up. It has his fingerprints all over it.

Did they win by a set play that he put on a whiteboard and explained to the players? No. But he created the environment that allowed them to express themselves without fear.
