Some individual brilliance and a huge slice of luck got us out of the fire after an abject performance against a spoon contender. 2 points are nicer than zero but there's very little to be happy about here.
Look, I always try and bring perspective when I make comments. People are saying we are crap, we are terrible, the coach should be sacked. We are currently 5th. We have made the finals soon to be three years in a row. We have the youngest roster in the NRL. We have a terrible injury toll. Things are never as bad as people say if you have a sense of perspective.

Right now (they could still win), South Sydney, premiership favourites, media darlings, are currently losing to the wooden spooners. In football it only takes being off your best a few percentage points and you go from penthouse to cellar in 80 minutes.

We need this run of games against sides outside the 8 to build confidence. We played crap but still won so the morale should at least improve. We will be boosted by the return of RCG soon.

We haven't had combinations going all year. If we are still this bad after a good solid stint together than we have issues

Sack Griffin, sorry, I thought we won?
Our players won after whatever shit our coaching staff wanted was thrown out the window.

Manly were the better team for 60+ minutes. Nothing that won us the game was coached.

Manly miss a penalty goal and Cleary intercepts it. Kikau makes a tackle that accidentally knocks the ball out and Cleary scores from it.

Anything could happen, but dollars to donuts we don’t win the comp. Hook isn’t tactical enough to win the whole thing, we just don’t have the game plans.

The win today is really irrelevant to the overall discussion of Hook. I honestly think he’s taken this team as far as his abilities allow. Sacking a coach isn’t just about a bad season, it’s about identifying how the team can improve. If Hook doesn’t have the game plans to take us forward, it’s time to move him on.

Exactly this was the 1st full week we had training since Round 3. Lets see how we end up

Ciraldo does our attack though

Head coach is ultimately responsible. He would know this. It's up to him to fix the problems. If someone on his staff is lacking he has to fix it somehow. I'd never get away with it as someone who is in a position of responsibility at work.

He’s clueless. He thought our first 30 was pretty good.

We looked directionless in that period. Sure the next 30 was worse, but that early 30 showed we had little idea in structured attack.

How do we know Ciraldo is lacking? We created plenty of chances even before the comeback. On the back of our whole squad training together for the 1st time in 17 weeks.

No doubt we will do a review after the season but it is too soon atm

I'm not one to bash the coach unnecessarily, but the story atm isn't as simple as us getting 2 points. We were atrocious, soft as butter in the middle, largely uninterested until what should have been far too late. That comes on the back of conceding 50 last week and winning a single game in a month. It's not good enough. Yes Origin and injuries are a factor, but they shouldn't have us looking like disinterested drunks for 70 minutes.

I don't want Griffin sacked but let's not go too far the other way and suggest thing are hunky dory because T Turbo couldn't take a simple tackle on his own goal line. If Griffin can't pick a team that should be a title contender out of this funk then he deserves to be getting some shit going at him. I actually give him a pretty good chance of doing it but he gets no credit till it actually happens and it didn't happen today.

We're 12 and 7 after 19 games. We were 10 and 9 at the same stage last season. Considering the injuries we've had throughout the season our record isn't at all bad.

The issue with Griffin is that I highly doubt he can take us to that next level where we make a grand final. Especially considering the standard that the more seasoned outfits like Storm and Roosters are able to play at.

Of course we have issues but if we win 4/5 we finish Top 4. From there who knows

I said our attack looks bad(our defence is worse) and you said that it's Ciraldo's job as a way to deflect from Griffin. My point stands that Griffin is the head coach. Whatever the circumstances he needs to get this team playing it's best football possible. Maybe we still lose some games due to inexperience but we shouldn't look so bad. Somewhere between the current form and the Dragons game should be the standard.
