If I had to guess, ego. Phil Gould’s ego.

He made the decision to sack Cleary, so if Griffin didn’t work it was all on him. I think he was hoping it would come good. He’s likely cost the club over $1m in a payout.

I’d also say it’s his ego that doesn’t want Ivan to come back either.

I really don't know. I'm not great at reading the lay of the land in things like this. I just want everyone to play nice and be happy.:p

I didn't listen to the broadcast, what makes you say that?

Better to listen and draw your own conclusions.

Basically club chairman David O'Neill reached out to Ivan Cleary without Phil Gould's knowledge. It is what prompted Gould to tell Griffin he wasn't wanted and led to him being let go this week.

So you could argue rightly or wrongly that Gould's position is being undermined.

Yep never really thought that the board could potentially be pushing Gus out the door & that is why they went behind his back to Cleary. Cleary might like the idea of coaching us without Gus breathing down his neck.

Bloody hell, what a mess.

Are they pushing him out the door ?

People wonder why we have struggled in the past... Stuff like this is why

I can't access it. Maybe, maybe not, it is up to the interpretation of the individual person. Personally speaking Hook had to go, and I was pro hook. Without Gus the Panthers would have folded.

If what Gus Gould says is in anyway true he has been undermined by the Chairman of the Board David O'Neill.

If what he says if true he was forced into a position that he was not otherwise going to consider until the end of the season.

Given what has happened he was forced into a situation that he was not in control of and therefore he is now in damage control.

If you accept he was undermined by David O'Neill, as General Manager of the Football Club, not being aware of what was happening then his position from that point forward makes his position basically untenable.

In my view, while not shared by many others on here, it may be a very sad development and if this crisis results in Gus Gould leaving the club then we will we much the poorer for it.

if it is reported that it will cost 3 million for Cleary a coach that has a less than 50 percent win ratio .Then perhaps its the people making these decisions that need to go. The club is not making a great profit. We can not afford to just throw money away

Yep. Good thing is the board can be questioned. Next meeting once all of this is sorted. Every member should attend a board meeting and get answers

Ivans record is skewed as he's always been in rebuilds.

He will almost certainly do better with our current squad than he did previously, if he can improve our defence & just let the team play footy it could work well.

I still think they’re are better options though.
