Hook is pretty good at getting players to make the step up into NRL. As for inventing our pathways, that is pure fantasy. I can forgive him for the shit he said when he got the arse, although a lot of it was his own doing, I get why he felt hard done by.

He has the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is with the Dragons, they have been terrible at bringing young players through for a while now. They have a pretty decent catchment of potential NRL players, it will be interesting to see how he manages it. If they start producing in a similar fashion as what we are seeing at Penrith then he may be proven correct. If it's Parra level, then he will be shown as a fraud.

Even the people in here who are pro Griffin can only provide evidence that he should be coaching lower grades or overseeing juniors in some capacity. If you watched any of our football under him we simply had no gameplans

I honestly think, and have said it elsewhere, Hook will be good the Dragons.

At the very least, he'll have them playing fit and never-give-up footy, which can only help with a team like the Dragons.

I was, and forever will be, a believer that Hook just doesn't have that something "more" that is needed to take a team all the way to a premiership, but he'll definitely improve their team no doubt.

Is "run hard, tackle hard" a game plan? When you're supremely fit it worked ok against shit teams I guess. He certainly seems to be clueless when it comes to breaking down the good teams.

Agree with this. Good coach to get for 2 or 3 years than get someone to take the next step.

I think he will get some improvement out of them initially but the club has deeper issues that are beyond his control. The squad is ok but there are definitely some changes needed and a lot of money tied up in the wrong guys.

He is only keeping the seat warm for Flanno anyway. Will go in get them fit, Blood some kids, Tap a few on the shoulder. Scrap into the finals and then pass it on for the job to be finished

To be fair Ivan was the same. That is where you need a good assistant to work on game plans...That was our issue for a while. fixed it this year and look at the results.

Yeah I am not sure if he will like having Flanno there tbh that alone could end up being a problem. I mean they weren't letting Mary pick the side by the end, I am sure they will let Hook pick his side but he might be walking into a situation where he has a lot of people behind the scenes trying to have some input.

We made 3/3 finals & made the 2nd week of finals both years he was in charge & likely without a key injury would of been in the prelim.

But that means nothing, it’s a piece of piss, so much so it had never been done before in our clubs history...

No ones saying he’s winning coach of the century but the disrespect he & his record gets, purely because people would rather suck off Gus’ nuts, is ridiculous.

That is the details really. I read his interview and he was saying he wanted the current staff to say and was going to pick the team so I guess we watch how it plays out

The fact he isn't responsible for our junior development and pathways is fact as well. At most he would've been responsible for getting players to step up to first grade. That record also means very little when you look at how it was achieved. We had maybe 5 games in 3 years that were genuinely quality games and most were with Maloney at 7 while Cleary was injured. We were bottom 4 for defence and penalties with the worst attack in the opposition 20m in the comp.

I suspect his time here was a necessary stepping stone but let's not pretend he was gods gift to coaching.

You are taking paper talk for facts though, No one has once said he was totally responsible even last night

“Like I said that was a period that finished in a way what was a really successful period in my career and also the Penrith Panthers.

“They had never been to the playoffs three years in a row and I played a role in that.

“I’m not saying I did all of it or didn’t do all of it. Gus did some great work out there.

“But fundamentally that relationship broke down so I’m not proud of that, but I’ve moved on.

So he said he played a part in it. As did Gus the rest is just old cranky reporters. You need to take less notice of the opinion pieces.

I'm a day behind the news shows due to starting work at stupid o'clock.

The entire point of my first comment was to counter their nonsense narrative. Far too many people do take these guys seriously. I don't get it but it is what it is.

We are in agreement the truth is more balanced than what the different sides of media are pushing.

Of course. He isn't as hopeless as SMH and those guys would make out.

It is why the media is dying. Stupid garbage like this that means nothing
