Could be possible , there lies the reason why we pay overs for players. If you have no real cap like the Roosters for example you can sit back and when an established star comes along you pay a fortune , WT on the other hand have no endless bank account so in a lot of ways we are forced to pay younger kids reasonably more than they are worth in the hope they develop into stars while we have then contracted on less than market value. Its risky but while ever 3rd party payments are allowed to be rorted and the clubs producing future players are not compensated I cant really see a way out , altho some better talent evaluation from our club would somewhat help.
Ex. If we sign Brookes for 5 years at $400k a season and he doesnt kick on its big money. IF we hold of for 12 months or so and he is playing as a high quality halfback the market would easily pay $700k a year for rare number sevens.
