I think these sound like decent signings. Maybe they have some speed and can help out our outside backs.

Chee Kam and Littlejohn aren't bad footy players tbh. They'll surprise us. No idea about the other dude.

Do you guys remember a bloke you signed a couple of years ago from Union? He was a winger with some massive wraps. Can't remember the name, I think it was something Grant. Is he still with the club?

Yep. He was too fast and dynamic for us. Went back to union after playing the same number of NRL games as the number of times I've touched Elle's boobies.
The exact same number !!.
We don't need speed, anticipation and unpredictability in this side, young man.
That Grant character can join that coloured boy from Fiji, and that Austin fellow. We don't need their types here, old bean. All that speed, evasion, creativity and such. Pfft.

I'm an optimist but I really hope that we are starting to realize that we need that stuff.

I doubt These 3 signings will play NRL for us.

Chee Kam is a good ball runner but has sloppy hands and gives away penalties.

Littlejohn isn't too bad., but he's behind Brooks.

Wests Tigers recruit Jesse Parahi turns back on Olympics to pursue NRL dream

Brad Walter
Published: August 3, 2015 - 5:56PM

Australian Rugby Sevens forward Jesse Parahi has turned his back on an opportunity to play at the Olympics by signing with Wests Tigers in an indication that players believe the team for Rio is set to be dominated by Wallabies stars.

Parahi, who was a member of Australia's bronze medal-winning Sevens team at last year's Commonwealth Games, will join the Tigers on a one-year deal in 2016 rather than aim for an Olympic berth.

Tigers officials view him as a wide-running back-rower and say at the age of 26 Parahi wants to return to the code he first began playing as a Canterbury Bulldogs junior while still a chance of playing at NRL level.

However, Parahi won't make the move until after an Oceania tournament in Auckland in November, at which Australia hope to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Assuming Australia succeed in qualifying for the Olympics, players like Quade Cooper, Israel Folau, Henry Speight, Bernard Foley, Matt Toomua and Sean McMahon are tipped to join the Sevens program after the end-of-season Rugby World Cup at the expense of players who have been playing in the IRB World Series.

Parahi, who has Maori heritage, played both codes until his selection in the 2007 Australian rugby union schoolboys team and he was a member of the Brumbies Academy program before moving full-time to Sevens five years ago.

He has represented Australia 33 times in Sevens and captained the side during a number of IRB tournaments since making his debut in the London leg of the international circuit in 2010.

The Tigers believe the speed, footwork and defence he has shown in Sevens will enable Parahi, who is 195 centimetres tall and weighs 104kg, to make a successful transition to league and have signed him on a 12-month contract.

The club also announced the signing of Manly players Michael Chee Kam and Jack Littlejohn on one-year deals.

Chee Kam, 23, has played two NRL games for the Sea Eagles and is a former Australian Schoolboys representative who plays primarily in the back-row, while Littlejohn can cover a range of positions in the back line but is seen as predominantly a five-eighth or halfback.

Tigers coach Jason Taylor said that all three players would be valuable additions to the club's roster for next season.

"It's really important for us to start building our depth at the club," Taylor said. "These three guys are going to help us do that. They are all talented players in their own right and having spoken to them each individually, I know that they are coming here to push for first-grade positions and that's what we want.

"It's important to have those players at our club who are willing to put in the desired work and effort – both on and off the field – to get themselves in a position where they are genuinely pushing for an NRL position.

"These guys have that ambition and it's going to build competition within our ranks which will help push us forward as a club."

Lets hope that this mob have learnt from the last mob x 2 who were running the place.

Always wondered why they signed Grant and then didn't use him.

http://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl...inger-john-grant/story-fn2mcuj6-1226099966651

Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys said the club was delighted to be able to secure the services of John Grant.

"John is an extremely talented winger who possesses great speed, a solidly built frame, and has good hands," Humphreys said.

"He is one of the most exciting prospects in rugby union and Wests Tigers are delighted to have secured his signature.

"I'm sure John is very much looking forward to be able to develop his game not only under Tim Sheens
Perhaps Hunphreys signed him without speaking to Sheens
Grant could score a try and had size and speed but it wasn't what we needed :x

I'm all for bagging sheens/hunphreys however it's hard to say we got it wrong with Grant when he went onto do nothing in any code.

the club has dabbled with signing Union players in the past.

When has it ever worked out?

Develop the kids we have and sign some NRL players.

Stop giving NRL elite money to depth players.

Michael Chee-Kam has been named on the bench for Manly-v-Souths. Might be an opportunity to see how he goes and what chance he'll have of getting into our top side next year.

A mate of mine rates him and says he really just needs a chance to show his ability, he is apparently quite fast for a back rower. Truth is I don't think I've ever seen him play a game so I'll be interested in what he may offer us.

These are some highlights of Jesse Parahi (Playing in the 2 jersey)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1Cf1XUUPkk

He is listed as a rugby forward and is 190cm and 100kg.

3 things to take from him being a 7s player -

1. He will be fit. 7's is a really quick game requiring both endurance and anaerobic fitness.
2. He will be fairly quick. From the highlights he looks to have a fair bit of toe for such a big guy. He would be pretty quick for a backrower.
3. He has good hands. 7's involves a lot of tap on and second phase plays. In fact, it is pretty much entirely offloads until someone makes a break. His catch and pass, as well as offloading skills should be top notch.

I would not be surprised if he ends up playing NRL fairly quickly. He is also 26, so he should be mature enough to have a good attitude towards training etc...(or at least I would hope so) and he has played at an elite level.

I'm not getting excited about speculative signings. Done that too many times already and have been disappointed everytime.
