Demian Maia would destroy Shields on the ground.

Shields is slick on the ground but Maia is lethal. His transitions and how quickly he sinks chokes in is almost super human. And he has also won some very prestigeous BJJ competitions. he won the ADCC 2007 Under 88kg Gold by beating Flavio Almeida, who is an extremely high level BJJ practitioner, I am talking freakish, I have rolled with Flavio and the dude is nasty.

Yeah Maia is an absolute beast on the ground. But dont under estimate Shields...

Hes got a Bronze in the Under 77Kg at the same ADCC Champ's at the 77kg... which most people consider the toughest weight class.

just look who he finished behind... Marcelo Garcia & Pablo Popovich.

and was it Joe Rogan who said in the Martin Kampman fight... if you wanna tap Jake Shields out you need to be a Marcelo Garcia.

I rate Maia really high... but Marcelo Garcia is IMO even better than he is.

either way... it would be a good fight...

I think that I woud want to be on team Lesnar...coming into it I thought JDS for sure but I think if your short term goal is to win TUF and worry about developing your skills later, then Lesnar is probably the way to go.
His main focus will be Fitness and wrestling...which I think is probably the best base to cover for the series.

Deadset though, how boring was the first match? Dana was not impressed.

I think Shomar knew he didn't have to do too much to win, there's no point showing all your game in the opening bout against a guy who didn't have much

Dana denied that the other day...Sonnen really needs to sort his life out before the UFC would heavily invest in him again. I would like to see it though!

I reckon Bisping v Sonnen would make for an interesting series. You don't want coaches who are all lovey dovey towards each other (looks like that will be the case for JDS & Lesnar). You want a bit of rivalry and tension between the coaches just as much as the fighters. You want good v bad, guys that will run their mouth.

Guys I would love to see as a coach on TUF:

Chris Leben v Wanderlei Silva (apparently fighting at 132 too YAY)

my favourite series was Rampage and Rashad, Rashad's cockiness and Rampage's petulance were a match made in heaven for reality TV

That was probably my favourite as well...laughed at how Rashads boys kept winning fights and Rampage was too busy putting chickens in Rashads car and getting the mural made...the stare-offs in the hallways were unreal but the best was when Rampage destroyed that door...I laughed my arse off :lol:

But they are both bad guys. If you're gonna have Bisping there at least have a likeable fighter against him.

Before the series I was probably more of a Rampage fan but afterwards I found myself supporting Rashad. Rampage just carried on like a little kid, bullying the fighters from team Rashad, making empty threat after empty threat and then not supporting his own fighters after they lost. Thought Rashad handled himself with alot more class and was without doubt the better coach. Rashad actually spent his time training his guys, Rampage spent most of his time bullying Schoonover

Sonnen is likeable!

Here are some of his quotes

“He’s a grown man with earrings. He’s a grown man with saggy pants, pink t-shirts and crooked hats. Go join a gang, don’t get in the UFC.
- On Silva

At the end of the day, if you want to get to the top of the card in the UFC you've got to fight tough guys. If you want to be a fighter, get in the cage and be a big deal at your local strip club - go to Showtime. There is places you can go
Then asked what his team mate dan henderson might think of that comment...

"I don’t think Dan watched the press conference, and I know he doesn’t read, so I’m going to assume he has no idea
"I come from a real sport; wrestling is a real sport. That's through the high schools and that's through the colleges. Wrestling is in the Olympic games. You take me to Olympic Village and show me the 'Moo-ee' Thai venue and we'll have another talk. I know what 'Thai' is; it is short for 'Thailand.' Who knows what 'Moo-ee' even means?"
“A.S. Your run is T- 70 days. I’m not a math teacher from Ohio, I’m a gangster from Oregon. Talk is cheap, it takes money to buy whiskey.”
Anderson, you are going to be on your back more than a pornstar with a mortgage
One's a punching bag and the other is just irrelevant"
- On the Nog brothers

Sonnen is crazy but nobody ever really goes back at him. Bisping will fall into that trap and it would make for hilarious tv. If these guys fight just normally on a UFC card it will create interest, but the UFC can milk it for some tv ratings and extra buy rates by having this fued on TV rather then the internet through interviews.

Just watched the newest TUF ep and don't want to spoil it but I feel bad for the dude who lost. He seemed really respectful and nice and it was pretty close.
