That's exactly my point, you're praising flano for putting bird in at 5/8.

We called for him to be in the side round 1. Along with Holmes.

After all, super coach had lamented the fact all off season that the plan was to rotate Holmes and Gordon this season ala RTS/Mini. But he started with Brown. Flanno logic

As he started Bird on the bench, because he had no clue how to get a player of his quality into the side that he had brought across to play in the centres. Not 5/8, not back row. The player himself has admitted he has trained all off season at centre.

He had absolutely bare cupboard options and he threw a bloke in there in the vain hope that it worked.

Like a bloke down on his ass who buys a lotto ticket and wins.

That's what happened.

But you buy into the master plan theory if you like. May as well stare out your window and wait for pigs to fly as well.

But what more should we expect from Flanno? After all, "it wasn't me".

Who else was going to play 5/8? It's not like there was anyone else we could have picked.

So Flano throws him in at 5/8 and Bird plays amazingly. Flano comes and tells the media "yeah I always thought of him as a 5/8 or centre"

What is with this constant Lyall v Flanno undertone?

Who in here is honestly suggesting Lyall would in any way shape or form get involved in selection decisions.

Of course he wouldn't, the bloke is a professional who knows what his job entails.

Then on the other hand you have Flanno.

You're completely missing the point.

I'm in agreeance with Sharkshocked. Flano fluked it and now he acting like it was a genius move by himself. And all the other sharks fans who also know next to nothing about rugby league praise flano for it.

I just hope the board doesn't see it your way and sign extend his contract yet again.

IThe scene for Flannos gutsy move went something like this.

Gormans office:

Lyall: we are none from 4 Shane.

Flanno: Duh.

L: I'm not telling you who to pick but there's a few blokes who showed they can play during the nines and they aren't getting much of a lookin. Birds got 10 mins off the bench last game and Holmes has been wasted for a couple of games on the wing. It would be a good move on your behalf to get these guys into the next game.

You do like your job don't you Shane?

F: Der.

L: Now..... About the captain who thinks he is a halfback and the big unit who runs sideways and laughs when he spills the ball....

No mate you're wrong, this was all flano's plan, and it was gutsy and flano will go down in the records books for unearthing the superstar that is Jack Bird.

Or that's what some people around here think.

Where are you getting this from? The comments Lyall made on the podcast?

All he said was he met with Shane and reminded him that they "were all accountable".
