Anyone still want to sack Flanno?

it sounds plausible to me

buy what you can afford particularly in the backline where we lack spark

and if some of those positions become a 'best fit' question play them and find out

seems to me bird ennis and barba were pretty good buys and there was always going to be a 'where best to play them' question

flanno is not the best coach in the world but I think its tough whinging about recruitment of these players

Brown was getting groomed as the utility, dummy half. He got injured. Barba was training at 5/8 and by round 3 he was really on the nose. Coach can't play the game for him you know. Also you can't judge a person by a few dressing room quotes.

I think he is better coming on as an impact type role, it seemed to work on Friday. Bird is at 5/8 because of our thin wall in the halves department due to injury. We got lucky there.

I'm pretty sure there's a Wayne Bennett quote of that nature millers.

I just really don't like how Flano is claiming praise for playing Bird at 5/8 when Barba was signed for 5/8. Barba was not signed to play any other position. We have Gordon who has been arguably our best player for the last couple years and then we have Holmes who just resigned who was to take over from Gordon. Barba was never going to be our fullback.

nigel vagana played a lot of his rep footy at 5/8
lockyer was a fullback
lewis was a winger

players are moved for all sorts of reasons

and if something isn't working then players are shifted around

its really quite common and the bleedin obvious

its not as if flanno invented the positional change

is he claiming praise?

even if he was ...which as far as I can tell is just answering journos questions.

He did put him at 5/8 ....so I'd say he can claim it all day long.

Unless it really is Lyall Gorman coaching the team.

funny
last tear when we were losing games it was flano coaching from adolfs bunker
Now when we win games it is Lyall coaching from adolfs bunker.

Flano saying he signed Bird for either centre or 5/8 is him claiming praise. I don't believe it even for a second.

The only reason bird went to 5/8 is because there was nobody else.

Yup, see ya Flanno.

The only reason we are winning are because of a few individual pieces of play.

We still aren't performing as a team and still have no idea what to do when we get in the oppositions 20. Heck, we still struggle with a simple draw and pass.

Seems like Nathan Brown has season seats, he sits a couple rows back from me. I'd bring him on.

At a minimum, I'd look at bringing in a coach who focuses on our attacking structures to assist Flanno.

Surely

So much like the bulldogs trained by super coach dessie yesterday

Isn't that what players are supposed to do ?

Do you think you can just assemble a team of shyte players give them a plan and they win ?

My point is it wasn't Flanos genius game plan that has won him the last 2 games. Birds try on Friday night was individual brilliance. The previous week was also individual brilliance, apart from the Lewis inside ball try.

The amount of times we give the ball to heighno or gallen when we are playing the ball on the other teams try line is astounding. It's bordering ridiculous.

birds try on Friday = individual brilliance?

f**k all he did was back up the ball player. ( after he ran backwards and sideways for a while )

Must be a shit load of brilliant individuals in the game if that is some sort of gauge.

what I find ridiculous is the coach has got the team on the field that people pretty want and we have won a couple back to back...yet merkins are still crying about round 1.

remember as Lord Lyall said in his sermon
the past doesn't equal the future.

It is quite hilarious that you think that Birds try would have ever eventuated had he not created the space himself. Before that we were going nowhere. And the week before? That game was lost had bird not played.

All praise Flano.

Yeah because because did you know Bird was signed to play 5/8 hahahahhahahahahahahahhhahhhahahahahahahaha pull the other one Flano.

Correct. Bird told me himself they saw him as a centre.

Before the season ,
I saw us being 4 from 5 and losing to the Roosters. Well we have 50% of the points I expected. Wouldn't sack Flanno but get realistic. We have played 4 home games!

what are you going on about?

who gives a f**k what he was originally signed for ( which was as a back for the record)?
Barba got suspended ...nu and Stanley got injured..Wade was useless.
So flano threw the dice and chucked a 19 yr old rookie in there and it worked.
Gutsy bloody move by a coach with 4 losses to start the season.
