Anyone still want to sack Flanno?

Selection master stroke?

Come on now, be serious. What were the other options?

If you are talking about Bird, the other selection that I thought would be better was Murphy.

I admit that I was wrong, I didn't think that Bird would be able to be a good 5/8.

I don't want him sacked after 6 games because we flat out can't afford it, but the question must be asked, where was this game plan in round 1?
And that includes the selections.

Val needed to be in the team to interchange with Gordon, to keep our unpredictability in touch.
Bird needed to be in the team, starting off the bench to give us a threat around the ruck.

Ennis needed to be dictating the team, not Robson/Gallen.

Andrew needed to be told not to be anything other than a prop.

We would be sitting at 4-2 if he had made this adjustment in the preseason, when everyone was calling for it.

Wasn't bird carrying an injury in round one ?

I can't blame the coach:sarcasm: .Just returned from a cruise( seemed full of Shark's supporters BTW) and whilst away we won two games.
I blame whole heartledly my attendance at Shark's games at Remondis.for our prior failures.
The only solution is to p*ss me off to pasture, and we are semi certs.
We have too many decent players to be also rans.

I would be happy to chip in for your next holiday taipan! Have you considered a trip around the world....that should cover us till October!

Well you may haha but not even messiah Madge would throw a kid into 6 for his first game in NRL

Obviously there was a plan to ease him in to the team.

I think im missing an inside joke here but anyhoo, Birdy was 18th man in round 1 against the raiders.

It's not a joke Chewie, we are all wondering what Bird did in round 1.

Some say he wasn't selected because he was injured (Flanno's reason for not selecting him) & some say he played NSW cup.

Now you say he was 18th man.

I think you are right...didn't get a run in any grade.

The facts are Bird was nowhere near first grade in round 1 - injured, fit or on the moon.

Incumbent man would've gone with his retread purchases til round 100 - setting club records for the number of losses along the way.........however, after 4 consecutive losses he was directed, from up the chain of command, to pull his numbskull head out of his arse.

We then saw a change in proceedings which has resulted in a shift in fortunes.

The pro-flannos on here have been told this. They scoff at this - but it is fact.

Cb4 comes on here and states the same thing and rather than take their usual route of bullshite and denial they start asking stoopid f**king questions.

Cheers Cardy, he was definitely 18th man. I was at the game standing at the southern end right at the fence. The NRL boys warmed up 5 metres from us and Birdy was right in the middle of them in full kit, going through all the drills too.

I too said murphy
I hadn't even seen him play
I was only going by what people in here had said.

Therefore flano chucking bird into 6 was a master stroke :)

Definitely a master stroke.... considering Flanno had him training at Centre all off season.

Guess it was a 'master plan' eh.

I believe the plan was wait for barba to get suspended and the give bird a shot because a) there is nobody else and b) ive lost every game so far and my job is on the line so i'm not using graham again

I believe the plan was to ease him into firsts off the bench

Anyone who thinks otherwise is a bit demented

Serious question, why was Barba signed then? To play off the bench? No. To play on the wing? No. To play fullback? No.

FTR- Bird did not play in round 1, sat on the sideline as 18th man. Val who also got named on a 19 man FG team shifted back to Reggies.

Thankyou.

“We planned to get him in between round four and six and he’s done that — whether it was centre or five-eighth"' - why was barba signed, why was beale signed. It wasn't for depth

“And Benny, whether he was going to be our long-term five-eighth or a fullback for us, that was to be decided.” - why was bird signed? was he going to drop gordon? was holmes going to be benched for gagan / brown / feki?

It makes absolutely zero sense what our master coach is saying. It screams of ''I have no idea what i'm going to do with all these players but will sign them and play them all and figure it out later''. There was no planning from flano here.
