An alternative for Inu? You mean someone who does nothing, doesn't break tackles, never makes line breaks, scores very few tries, rarely defends excellently, hardly passes the ball and costs us sh*tloads of money?

:thumn and you left out shows an attitude that looks like he doesn't care if he wasn't there

Ben Smith was a one year wonder....,2005 he was fine, but he was playing outside guys like Tim smith and josh morris who were inform...making him look good.

So now we have 2 out of form centres (Smith, Inu) who are chalking up god knows how much coin...

still cant believe smith is resigned for awhile yet....compare him to Centres we have let go in past couple of years...

Jamie Lyon (cat in a hat, but better than smith)
Willie Tonga
Timaha Tahu

To the rumours... hopefully the half of them are true...tautui has never impressed me, same for Paulo...and hindmarsh would make a good captain.

While i agree that he hasn't played as well as he did on 05 lets get the facts and the story straight shall we....

* Josh Morris has never played for Parra, it was John Morris.
* We did not let Jamie Lyon go, he left, walked out and there was pretty much nothing we could do about it.
* Willie Tonga left for greener pastures as he had 2 Internationals in front of him, Jamie Lyon & David Vaealiki. Both were signed to fairly long contracts at the time.
* We couldn't match the coin that Rugby offered Tahu. If we could have, do you really think he would have been allowed to leave?

He said Josh and not John - typo, big deal.

I think any defence of Ben Smith should revolve around the fact he badly ruptured his anterior cruciate in 2006 (from memory) and has had knee problems ever since. Once you do your knee badly, it is hard to come back (just look at Danny Sullivan).

It was Hagan's fault for the long signature, not Bens. What is he supposed to do - waive his $300-400k over two seasons?

In saying that, I wish we had better centres!!!!!:crazy:

i'd have picked Tonga over Vaealiki.. even back then.

Vaeliki went downhill very, very fast in 2003, but in 2002 it was not that apparent.

Correct me if my memory is wrong, but I remember that in 2002 we had Lyon and Vaeliki on long term contracts (whole lot of good that was with Lyon).

We had Tonga and Ashley Graham off contract at the end of 2002 and we chose to only sign Ashely Graham (who was playing well in spurts as a substitute). Tonga signed with the Dogs on small money in a low-profile deal.

Then, in a semi final against Brisbane? Graham broke his ankle and dislocated it at the same time and was never the same or as fast.

Therefore, we made the wrong choice in hindsight, but we were never to know how it would turn out.

If we had a crystal ball we would have sacked Lyon and resigned Tonga....oh well :(

Firstly, Josh Morris never played for Parramatta.

Secondly, you cannot claim the halves' good form as Ben Smith's good form.

It is, actually. How can you expect to be taken seriously when you get the player wrong? :p

Thats being pedantic,we all knew who he meant...Someone is totally correct in what he is saying. But Someone you will find it difficult here to get through to some of these people. Some of them actually have no idea of what they are talking about.

i doubt that Tonga signed on small money. at the time he signed i can remember nearly every team was chasing him and everyone was aware of his ability.

i'm not knocking Parra's recruitment and retention in this regard as he would have left for the opportunity as well, but he was definitely a player that everyone was aware of and chased hard for.

i agree with Stuke, everyone knew how good Tonga was, i'd hardly think the dogs got him cheap.

You agree with Someone`s opinion this time. But he`ll soon join the ranks of us who 'have no idea' when he puts forward an opinion that doesn`t agree with yours.:lol::lol:

He hadn`t played much first-grade, though. I was bitterly disappointed that we let him go; I thought Brian Smith was insane at the time.

With the amount of competition for his services, i dare say he wouldn't of signed on a dirt cheap contract, yes probably not a massiveamount, but would've been reasonable.

The days of the big centre are gone, unless your in the same league as a Mal Meninga then if your big you'll be in the backrow not in the centres. Look at Jennings, he is the future of centres, great foot work, speed of the mark. Ben Smith has none of those and thats why it was tried to move him to the backrow but he is too soft for that.

I dont know. Big Dell is doing pretty good, and he's old!:D

Not really. It detracts from the validity of the point when you make a mistake like that.

It'd be like referring to Nathan Hindmarsh and his exploits as Ian Hindmarsh.
