Well let's just look at our attacking record since this current crop of players started (mainly slater, smith and cronk since that's who everyone complains about).

2016 - 563 - equal 4th
2015 - 467 - 8th best
2014 - 536 - 6th best
2013 - 589 - 2nd best
2012 - 579 - 2nd best
2011 - 521 - 4th best
2010 - 489 - 13th best
2009 - 505 - 11th best
2008 - 584 - 3rd best
2007 - 627 , 1st
2006 - 605 - 3rd best (3 behind 1st place)
2005 - 640 - 4th best

If that's not the most boring team ever than I don't know who is.

I'd like to see stats on passes thrown per game. They would be 16th most years.

Yeah lets just include the years you were millions over the cap lol what horseshit.

Feel free to remove them, it doesn't change much. In fact the year we were over the cap by the most and the year we lost our points were our worst 2 years so feel free to remove them.

Lol nice attempt latching onto by far out worst year (excluding the year we had our points stripped and essentially kicked from the comp). Point remains, there are far more boring teams and we have been consistently near the top of the attacking list.

I'd like to see stats on passes thrown per game. They would be 16th most years.

I like that you thought this was a clever enough post that it required you posting twice in a row instead of just one post. Not only would we not be 16th for that stat but it's totally irrelevant to what makes league exciting anyway.

Sorry to get in the way of another storm hating circle jerk. You merkins clearly don't have time to do much else. Shit I like the sharks and would like to see them get up in a way but reading stuff like this forum makes me want us to win more just to see the bitching. It's pathetic.

You think passing is irrelevant to what makes league exciting?

You are out of touch man. Sorry.

Everyone who is critical of the game complains about the same thing. Too much one out, hit up football...

If we got more passing into the game a lot more people would be watching and attending and we would assume our rightful place as the number 1 code.

People find different aspects of the game entertaining. Give me a structured and methodical side who can control the game over a team who throws the ball around without a real game plan in mind. Other people see it differently and fair enough

It's not worth discussing because you don't actually have any stats to back up this argument. It's just a hunch on your part. I feel very confident that we wouldn't be near the bottom anyway.

Also not all passes are equal. Just look at the shit teams dish out ad supposed attacking movements. Teams just pass from one wing to the other with little attacking flair thrown in. You can have an attacking play with 10 passes that is ineffective and boring as bat shit. You can also have attacking plays which only involve a few passes which are incredibly exciting (like the one we use between smith, cronk and slater).

Using the number of passes a team makes as any sort of proof that they are an exciting attacking team is incredibly simplistic. Not only that but you have no stats to back up the claim that the storm make relatively fewer passes anyway.

If you really hated boring football being played you'd be placing your ire with teams like the dragons and bulldogs. Not the storm who have actually played some decent attacking football this year.

Your last paragraph is nonsense. Yes I'm sure passes per game is the one thing holding back the popularity of the game. Get a grip.

You have to be a hard core rusted on RL fan to find 4 or 5 hit ups and DH runs entertaining.

They just aren't very entertaining but as Melbourne prove they are very effective and safe. Its easy to just take the 8 neutral zone metres (the D usually closes some gap) and get a fast play the ball.
This is effective, but it is boring to the average sports fan considering what sport to watch.

If we get more teams throwing more passes per game especially early in the set from within their own half we will get a lot more people watching and attending.
I get that Adam Kungle and most other League Unlimited fans enjoy the arm wrestle of 5 and kick. These are hard core rusted on league fans. But Kungle will keep watching if we get more passes going and whats more new sports fans will come and watch because it will look better and entertain more.

low risk footy does get boring, but being consistently successful would make up for this. St George's attack has forced me to avoid all their games, there is nothing worse

I agree. But their aren't many hit ups or DH runs that excite the fans (except maybe the hard cores). There are way too many of these because it is too easy to get up the field without doing anything more than get a fast play the ball and hit the advantage line. Thats way too easy.

All stats are simplistic.
Keeping stats on passes thrown per game, passes thrown in own half, average passes thrown on try scoring plays, average passes per set.
Those stats would tell us more about how teams play than 'tackles' or 'metres gained'.

Seeing teams passing sideline to sideline, getting nowhere and dropping the ball gets boring too, structured plays that are done to precision resulting in line breaks are pretty exciting. The precision has been lacking a bit this year with Melbourne but Vunivalu has made up for it in a few games.

I think the Warriors fans would disagree with you T-Boon. For all their "flare" they generally lose, especially when the game is on the line. I would think they would take Storms success over there exciting play most days of the week.
