This needs its own thread, but I hate this. I absolutely hate it.

Now we're going to continue to get this absolutely ridiculous situation where top 8 teams start feasting on the carcass of teams out of the running towards the end of the year. Mmmmm let me get a Walsh, a Doueihe, an Addo-Carr...oh okay no to those, let's get a Nofoaluma.

f**k me, Nofoaluma is contracted to the Tigers until the end of 2025. I thought it would only be situations like Reece Walsh, who was leaving the Warriors anyway, or Pangai Junior.

No f**king way players who are still on contract should be loaned out for finals campaigns. Especially big-name players - if you want John Smith the 2-game battler, OK. I understand your roster has been hit by injury. But not Origin players, for f**k's sakes.

1000% correct.
I hated when the Roosters did it with SBW, I hated it even more with TPJ at the Panthers last year, and now it's just getting ridiculous (especially with the amount of players they've targeted before jagging one)
The date needs to be rolled back to end of June ASAP.

As for the Nofoaluma situation in particular - I just can't understand it from the Tigers POV. Sure they save ~$100k. But what if he does an ACL, or Pec injury? What does this do for team morale? You've got guys busting their gut every week for no reward, and Nofo is like "Cya in September. Lulz." and bounces off to the Storm. And then has to come back and look those same guys in the eye in 2023 and try to convince them that he'll have their back week in week out while they go to war. Nope.

Only works if Tigers are looking to get out of his contract.

But still, it's a shit look, and a putrid trend that needs to be banned.

Yep, absolutely right.

And what about the Tigers and their momentum into next year? They should've won last week, and started to build some confidence and combinations into next year. Now their winger goes, who presumably they think contributes to helping them win games. The combinations could continue to build. As you say, he might get injured in the finals campaign - let's say he does an ACL in the 2nd week of the finals and is out for 2023. The Tigers lose that player for a whole year. Won't care too much about a bit of salary cap relief then, will they?

I just don't get it. I do from the Storm, even if I think it's a bit lame for a club that prides themselves on development. But for the Tigers, even if they're getting some cap relief, f**k it could go so wrong. Don't they want to win games now? What do the fans think? I know when I heard Walsh might go to the Storm, I hated it as a Warriors fan - and that's a guy who isn't playing for us next year.

Nofo has slid down the packing order behind Maumalo and Naden/Tupou of late.

His discipline has been poor the past year or so, and his defensive decisions have been poor since forever. The hope is that maybe Bellamy can help fix some of these issues and we can get something out of the next 3 years of his inflated contract.

No harm in asking lol. He might fancy being back in a decent team for a few weeks after missing out on finals and origin for first time in a while. not to mention boosting his kangaroo chances.

Bulldogs will be better next year.

Hope fittler leaves him out again. Great player.

Yes Storm look cooked. They're a weaker side than they were last year, even at full-strength. Losing Hynes and JAC was massive.

That said, it wouldn't matter anyway because we might as well hand Penrith the Premiership now. If they don't win it, it'll go down as a bigger choke than 2020. Maybe even the biggest flop of all-time. They will win though and easily. This is the softest comp in recent memory. Literally only one great side and about 8-10 proper terrible ones.

Agree its ridiculous and all that needs to be changed is to make loan players only players who have not played a certain number of games of nrl, either overall or this season.

I’d put a July 1 signing deadline for the season. Can’t sign anyone after that date. bit silly you could in theory stack a team in the second half of the year.

Shit year with injuries, but it happens to everyone occasionally. Storm will be back.
The biggest thing that could happen to help the Storm at the moment is giving a bus ticket to Redcliffe to the oxygen thief masquerading as Captain. He can drop Brandon off at Bondi on the way - as good a player as he is, it seems his disruptive influence is more liability these days than his talent is an asset.

I'm starting to think Penrith will do a "2001 Parramatta".

The Eels OWNED that season, but got totally ambushed by Newcastle in the GF - it was practically over by half time.

Only question is.. who could do it to the Panthers?

Nah, Newcastle were equally as good that year. Most games we lost were without Joey and if he were fit the whole year the Knights would have given Parra a run for the minor.

Agreed. I predicted Newcastle would win that GF. They just had far more experienced rep-level players.

Our avg players are not of storms usual quality, our stars are still some of the best though, just need to keep the buggers on the field. We’ll finish 4th/5th and probably not make the gf Unless some of the lads pick up their game.
