Quote:
14 teams came together to play a modified version of Rugby League, being 7 players on the field at one time in 15 minute games. We saw some fantastic games of Rugby League, and the skill level of all students were of a great level.
Teams travelled from as far as Bendigo (Bendigo Snr College who provided 2 teams on the day), and Worawa Aboriginal College travelled from Healesville, and some local schools such as Cranbourne SC, Roxburgh College, St Bernard's College, Parade College, and Rosebud SC. Special mention must also go to the Mill Park students who also provided 2 teams on the day.
Roxburgh came up against Monterey, who managed to progress into the final defeating Roxburgh 18-16. In the other semi final, South Oakleigh defeated a very strong Bayside team 16-8. Both of the Semi finals were nail-biting affairs, and all the players really played out of their skins. This then pitted Monterey up against South Oakleigh in the final, and the players put on a fantastic game very fitting of a final. Possesion changed many times in a very tense game, with South Oakleigh running out winners in the end 16-8.
During the course of the day, we also had a 3-2-1 point system to determine the player of the tournament. The players who polled extremely well included Daryl (Worawa Aboriginal College), Johnson Reeves (Bayside SC), Ben Tupai (Mill Park SC), Nick Galley (St Bernard's College), Matt Komiti (Roxburgh College), David Harris (Parade College), Steve Haltin (Rosebud SC), and Mitchell Smith and Robbie (South Oakleigh). Congratulations must go to Harry Crowe (Rosebud SC) who won the title of Player of the Tournament and will win a football signed by the Melbourne Storm
there was also an ARL clinic that visited just a few days ago for holiday clinics....
