Are the Warriors heading for the Wooden Spoon?

After our performances earlier this year I never thought we'd be in this position but could the Warriors finish in last place 2007?

I get the impression that at some stage Easts have to come right due to the simple fact that they have so many good players, obviously same applies to the Broncos. St George may have turned the corner with there win agaianst the Broncos whilst others such as Souths, Titans and Canberra can play well on their day.

With 5 losses in a row and the fact that we have already collected 2 points from the bye plus a game against the Storm to come it does not look good.

What do you think?

An interesting point.
Cleary's winning rate last year was 50%
At this stage this year it is 36% - and it doesn't look like improving too much.
Have our players got worse or have other clubs improved?
We haven't had a lot of injuries.
Surely the coach has to cop some of the blame?

Don't even start.

We're good enough to - at worst - finish above Penrith and the Roosters. Whether we get the rub of the green soon enough to do so is another story.

Apart from Parramatta i don't think we've been comprehensively flogged and looked like coming right against the Tigers and the Dogs.

If we didn't get the spoon in 2004 we won't get it this year.

Gould said yesterday that we are also capable of winning 5 in a row

Despite the scoreline I was pretty encouraged by last nights performance, if we play like that we'll be up there this year. It's fair to say we've had more than our fair share of bad luck so far this year and things could turn for us quite easily. Even next week I think we're a good chance, we're missing Price but the Storm will be decimated by Origin and it's at home, so I think we're a good shot of taking them.

Wow Skinner, wow, that's optimistic. I hope you are right.

There were some decent signs yesterday, the back end of the first half was good, but on the line D was atrocious. SBW ripped us a new A-hole out there.

Still the same old dumb errors, Lancey and Simon Mannering couldn't catch a cold in the second half and the Dogs just punished them accordingly. I thought Price, Rapira and Tuimavave played very strongly up front. And Ropati is fast becoming our best back.

I've been saying top 6 since the start of the season and even after some of the recent loses i was saying top 6 possibly top 4 but now i'm thinking if we get lucky top 8.....it's not looking good.

Warriors can still make the 8, only because it's an even competition where apart from a couple of teams nobody has broken away.

They can't afford to drop the game against the Storm though. Missing so many players the Storm are there for the taking. We have to produce and make sure we get the two points that we should get.

I agree. The Warriors have had some poor form and bad luck, disappointing considering the start. But looking at the other teams as well, there's 'whoda thought' results everywhere: Broncos giving the Knights a hiding one week then falling to the Dragons...Manly getting beaten this week by the Panthers...Eels caning the Tigers...
It's anyone's game. I remain optimistic and feel the results are not far away, but giving the quality of the teams in this comp there's equal arguements for wooden spoon or top eight.

Today's game vs. a weakened Storm side is a must win for the Warriors especially as other teams around them - Easts, Souths had wins this weekend. I'm unsure of points for and against but we could end up at 15 or 16 on the table.

C'MON WARRIORS!

Agree pdb.....they must win this one. If not, my prediction above, of a top 8 finish,
is going down the gurgler with them.

It's a sh*tty day in Auckland. Any team considering expansive footy will be coming
second.

Massive results this weekend would who have thought those big scores to the Raiders and the Roosters?! Goes to show how tough this comp is, and anyone can beat anyone on the day. I still believe the Warriors can make the playoffs...but they MUST shake this thing they have of losing the close ones. They can do it though, a bit of confidence they'll be away.

Yeah, it certainly wasn't as much of a worry when other teams were losing as well- Now with Roosters, Raiders & the Rabbits all winning this has been turned around to a must win.

So long as we don't lose by about 70 the Roosters will still be last on for and against.
