Are we fair weather supporters?

Fair-weather is not a fair terminology IMO.
Most support the team through thick and thin, good times and bad and never leave to support other clubs despite how depressing it gets at times.
It is just that we are an extremely opinionated lot and don't mind wearing our hearts on our sleeves with some more so than others.
It is not a pre requisite that you have to love the coach and never disagree with things to be a supporter.
The hardest day I have seen in recent times is when much of the crowd at KJO booed them at half time against Tigpies in the 2nd round last year but that turned to wild adulation when they got the finger out in the 2nd half.
Wasn't it against Newcastle when they ran up a big half time score against us?

Can only say that I am one of those supporters who wear their heart on their sleeve - quite simply love my Dragons . Can take a loss , more so when the opposition is the better team , but not when we send out a team with a few crocks among them , a recipe for disaster .

That disappoints me no end , as it is not fair to the rest of the players and puts the team at a distinct disadvantage , especially when the coach is aware of the true situation . It's like buying a ticket on the Titanic , the same captain Mary is steering the ship , he has reports of icebergs in the immediate vicinity , but . . .

I just hope for all our sakes that he takes notice of the reports on this occasion , as he has already lost ships in 2015 - 16 - 17 .

Lost ships?
He’s lost entire fleets, he’s like the Bermuda Triangle of coaches, seems fine when the weather is great, but when a few clouds roll over his skills go missing never to be seen or heard from again.

I've been with the St George Dragons Club since the 1960's. I've witnessed the very highs and the very lows.

We are a club with a very proud successful history, a club which once had a very high standards.

We the supporters are critical of the team and coach because we have very high expectations.

If you have never seen excellence you will never know how bad you have it now and you will accept mediocrity ”

Most of us in here are definitely not a fair weather supporter.

This is an anonymous forum, we have some brilliants minds in here also few jokers who make me laugh and smile and then we have keyboard tough guy who writes a lot crap and hides behind the keyboard.

Everybody keep cool, the next 5 games will show us if we are pretenders or serious contenders.

I personal think we are serious contenders , but the bullshit SOO exhibition game and injuries will define where we finished on the ladder.

Very well said, 2010Dragons.
You've covered all points.

Not fair weather at all. If you look at other teams forums, win, lose or draw there is the same analysis, banter, insults, bold claims, vitriol hurled left, right & centre. That is sport.
In our case, one premiership in going on 40 years despite the constant bleating about ‘organic growth, interested in the best players, xxxxx is a career coach’ blah blah blah. I think a bit of fan upheaval is inevitable when the results aren’t there.
Whilst, at times, I hate how we play, our coach, our admin I love this club & that will never change.
For now, rest up & let’s smash the Grubs after Origin. Go Saints.

I came into this forum to troll a few people and post some memes about Mary. But I didn't realise how bad most of you guys suffer from Mary derangement syndrome. This is the correct diagnosis, no offence... The so-called 'arm chair critics' infest this joint beyond repair. I went into the belly of the beast - coaching experts.

I've missed a couple of games (home & away) in 4 years, bending my schedule to follow the team wherever they go. So it has nothing to do with how passionate you are for the club. This place is just too toxic. You know, at games we all laugh at 'The Dragons Forum' every time it's brought up...how hysterical you are.

But I'll still be lurking around. Enjoy!

To be honest I dont think any off us expected to be this high up the ladder after the last few seasons efforts and we all started to get excited because we just kept winning and winning...and we were and still are thinking hang on we are the real deal this year ....and there was a lot of talk about we are the bench mark team this year etc etc.....then after a couple of defeats and looking at our team of late we seemed to have lost that authority enthusiasm and star billing through what ever reason and we realise (well at least I do) that their are about 5 teams now that can claim to be the bench mark this season......we are still in it just like the other 4 or 5 bench markers it just depends on what coach has prepared his team well on game day and what team has turned up to play....

I've missed a couple of brain cells (home & away) in 4 years, bending my schedule to follow the team wherever they go. So it has nothing to do with how passionate you are for the sound of your own voice. I'm just so toxic. You know, at games everyone laughs at my low intellect every time it's brought up...how hysterical I am.

I read between the lines. That's what I got.

Who’s looking at other teams forums!! Give yourself an uppercut. God we’ve got enough to worry about without stooping that low.

Just incase someone hasn’t mentioned it before Mary has got to go!!!

Come on Saints do us proud, help NSW win back the sheild and get the team to finals. Who knows what may happen if we get there....IF

Mate, I’m a man of the people, I like to see what is happening elsewhere.
As an example just when you think we’re doing it tough you only need to take a look at the Eels forum. After that, you realise as a Dragons fan, life’s good.

Yes, yes and it’s likely to be that way for another couple of years.
Dollar Des, Castle & Dib - Axis of evil. Hahaha.

hahah yeah, should be a good source of entertainment for quite a while to come. Wouldn't be surprised if the Dean Pay thread makes the Sack McGregor thread look like a preamble by the time it's run its course.
