There’s going to be a lot of really really good players who aren’t going to ever win a premiership due to this Penrith dynasty. Honestly I could see them winning another 2 or 3.

The Storm needed a strike player out wide who could do something but had only workhorses. If they had a Best of Gagai I think they could have gotten a try or two more.

The Penrith forwards are sensational. The work rate and discipline is off the charts. Close to zero mistakes and close to no missed tackles. They got some great results contesting kicks, please AOB take notes!

You could see last night how good those two teams are. I think the comps best chance is for Panthers to regress, can’t see many teams getting to that level anytime soon.

Looking at the Kangaroos team, Best is one of only real centre named? Hammer, Lomax, Burton and Turbo can all play centre though. Looks like Best is the Australian left centre?

Leo and Phoenix named in the Kiwi squad.
Good experience for them.
It's amazing how far hard work and having an honest dig will get you in Rugby League. Phoenix barely has a talented bone in his body and is legitimately unathletic - and yet there he is selected for international footy.

Every single actually talented kid should look at this and be highly motivated. If you tackle hard and leave everything on the field, you can have a Rugby League career - even in the modern game. Our sport, above all else, is an effort sport. A player that wants it bad enough can have a big impact.

Yeah saying he's unathletic is a bit unfair. I expect Pervy is being hyperbolic
I mean he's obviously large enough and strong enough to play. You can get there by hard work for the most part. He's about as fast and agile as the michelin man, though. Practically zero genetic gifts in that regard. He's not even particularly coordinated given his lacklustre passing and kicking games.

Hyperbolic a bit perhaps, but most of what Phoenix has, he had to earn. Not a natural athlete. In some respects it's a good quality to have.

Crossland has a rig.

A lot of footy players aren't as big as you might think. I have dealt with heaps across a few different careers, and most just look like fit blokes, not huge.

Crossland is obviously fit, but he isn't big. Brails is legit a small bloke. Frizz isn't tall but looks like a stocking stuffed with walnuts. Dane Tilse was really tall but looked like a stiff breeze would knock him over.

Others are massive human beings. Justin Poore is the one who surprised me most. The bloke was massive up close, but didn't really look it on the park.

Yeh I think a lot people over estimate how big a lot of NRL players actually are, most NRL players are only doing proper gym for a few months a year and the fitness work they do keeps them pretty lean.
Friend of mine runs a gym and he has a dexa scan machine on site and the bulldogs do their scans at his gym, he was saying most of them are nowhere near as big as you’d imagine, even Kikau who looks gigantic on TV in real life he’s obviously quite tall but also pretty lean

I remember standing next to Micheal Luck one time and I was bigger than him, and I'm just normal size. Was amazed at the time that someone like him got through 50 tackles a game.
