Ryles clearly feeling the pinch after that move, putting Brown in a position he has never played before. Straight up weird.

Yeah if he wanted him out of the side to prepare for next season why not just drop him completely? Literally nobody would question it considering he’s not been in good form this year anyway. Seems like a weird form of punishment making him suddenly play a position he’s never played before and make heaps of tackles at hooker. I don’t even think he went that badly tbh. Helped set up one of their only 2 tries.

Man we used to have some gun players back in the day... Joey, Bedsy, Tahu, Kennedy, Simpson. THen within like 5 years we were winning wooden spoons...

Was it lol! I thought we lost 3 in a row in the 2010s. Haha.

We lost Joey for most of the year and then had the most wins of any spoon team. 2006 with largely the same squad was our last truly good season - finished top 4 and absolutely one of the better teams in the comp until we limped into the finals and got smacked by the Broncos.

Yeah 2006 was the only year we didnt have significant injuries from 2002 to 2007 that derailed our seasons at various points.

Dont think it would have made much difference to the outcome as we lost to the eventual premiers both times, but 2006 was very similar to 2013 in that we lost Bedsy at the worst possible time. Suspended for the 2006 SF and then KO'd early in the 2013 PF.

I think we didn't have Steve Simpson for that game against the Broncos either. As you said though, it probably wouldn't have really made a difference anyway. We had Reagan Tanner in our forward pack if my memory serves me correctly lol

Yeah, we'd had an amazing win against Manly the week before but then lost Bedsy and Simpson for the semi and that was all she wrote.

Last time we finished top 4 lol.
