This is just sad, a legend of the game and he will never be forgotten, R.I.P and condolences to his family and friends.

The best example of the kind of guy he was I can remember (having never seen him play apart from old footage) was a few years back when him and Jack Gibson were being interviewed by (i think) Sterlo. Gibson was clearly ailing at the time as Parkinsons (and probably alzheimers) were catching up with him, but Beetson was really helping him out with his answers etc. Showed what a good guy he was

In 1995 Jack and Artie ran a two up game at Easts Leagues and instead of money you could win Easts merchandise and all money raised went to the charity that Jack was supporting. (name escapes me at present). I ended up winning the Roosters (Sydney City Roosters in that day) jacket and to this day I still have it. Quite possibly the greatest Rooster in thge clubs long life.

Always enjoyed Arthur's yarns and tall tales when he spoke to Warren and David on Grandstand.

I remember talking to him a few times about taking part in Wests Tigers' Centenary Relay. He ended up going to the wrong pub and got their late, but...he turned up despite not having been to a Tigers function in years, and I was proud of my involvement in that.

A true legend of Australian sport.

You know your getting old when your childhood heroes start kicking the bucket. I worked with him later on in life at the Como Hotel.

Sad day.

RIP Artie Beetson...

Too young at 66 - It's a good reminder to us all to watch our waistlines and ensure we live a healthy lifestyle.

There should be a state funeral for the first Aboriginal captain of an Australian national side, rugby league immortal and all-round Aussie character.

My feelings exactly, would be sad not to see him officially honoured in some way.

RIP.
