Asia is sh*t

I'm sick of hearing wanker commentators and sunday league standard national team coaches talking up the challenge of Asia. The standard is rubbish.

At first I thought the commentators were just talking the standard up as a means of trying to compete with higher quality local opposition codes and international football. But it seems to me the commentators genuinely believe that it's a success when our national side beats a bunch of blokes they'd never heard of before the tie was announced. 11 players who wouldn't get anywhere near making our squad.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't mid-table Adelaide just smash half an international team Australia "stunningly" defeated in a total borefest?

This is not to mention spazos like Arnold who were making excuses about it being a bit hot in Asia before he'd even had a chance to be made look a twat on pitch.

And Pim? Seriously, he said he went to Uzbekistan looking for a draw. WTF. That's like England going to Andorra for a draw (yes I understand this might be slightly funny).

The standard of club football, apart from a few mega rich clubs like Urawa, who struggled past Sydney and only beat us because of a strange captitulation in Sydney, is generally fairly woeful.

The international scene is worse. There is no plausible way we won't make the world cup, despite the tripe you hear from Cockerill and Harper et al. Only a few teams can challenge us if we employ a decent manager and even then we should be a class above.

We should move to Europe... but then we'd probably make excuses about it being too cold and how Slovenia will be a tough ask.

how did australia go at the asian cup?

again, how did australia go at the asian cup?

clearly you didn't watch the game ... on another day all three goals might not have been awarded and kuruvchi outplayed adelaide

This is not to mention spazos like Arnold who were making excuses about it being a bit hot in Asia before he'd even had a chance to be made look a twat on pitch.
are you disputing that isn't hot in asia? ... clearly it is ... parts like the middle east and south east asia make playing football difficult ... forgetting that the majority of the australian squad play in europe? ... oranges and apples in weather comparison

And Pim? Seriously, he said he went to Uzbekistan looking for a draw. WTF. That's like England going to Andorra for a draw (yes I understand this might be slightly funny).
uzbekistan came close to qualifying for the last world cup and were ranked in the high thirties only 2 years ago ... have andorra ever won a football match?

The standard of club football, apart from a few mega rich clubs like Urawa, who struggled past Sydney and only beat us because of a strange captitulation in Sydney, is generally fairly woeful.
funny that ... only one australian team has managed to do anygood ... where does that leave the standard of australian football?

The international scene is worse. There is no plausible way we won't make the world cup, despite the tripe you hear from Cockerill and Harper et al. Only a few teams can challenge us if we employ a decent manager and even then we should be a class above.
australia are no better than japan, iran, saudia arabia and korea ... you make out like we're still in oceania

We should move to Europe... but then we'd probably make excuses about it being too cold and how Slovenia will be a tough ask.

we go from playing samoa, fiji and the solomon islands when no international team ever took us seriously to finally being put onto a market and you're bitching? ...

fmd we're not that good and sydney is nothing without dwight yorke ... face it sydney lost because they were and still are sh*t

please refrain from voicing your "opinion" ...

kthxbye

Sydney didnt lose to Urawa.

Home and away, the red diamonds couldnt beat Sydney. It was only a missed Zdrillic sitter in the final match away which saw Sydney fail to qualify.

Asia is difficult, IMO, not tough, but difficult. Particuarly travelling away. Tough and unfamiliar conditions against sides, who while they may not be of the highest quality, play together ALOT and are well drilled and hard to break down.

At home though, we should have too much quality for all but the elite of Asian football.

it's a 4 story climb from beating samoa's finest 32-0 with an australia team who would have been lucky to beat qatar ...

people were applauding the CLOSE MATCH when we beat fiji 8-0 ... since when was 8-0 a close match?

Aus football is rather sh*t, I agree. More to my point that coaches like Arnold should be put down and local commentators gagged (or helped to stop gagging).

The fact that we, and others, were beaten by Iraq (I'm sure you've heard of their situation) is simply embarrassing, and supports my point that Arnold and others are not only inadequate, but have somehow convinced themselves that the competition is at a standard comparable to themselves.

Seriously, would any of their players come close to our squad? Although I suppose if Brett Holman can make it anyone can.

It's nice that we are in a stronger confederation now, but that doesn't hide that fact that it's still at a standard far below what is being talked up.

Also, I swear recently we travelled to some sh*thouse country and they couldn't even give us footballs to prepare with.

I think we should join CONCACAF.

It'd be really easy to qualify, three and a half spots and only playing rubbish sides like Jamaica and Mexico

CONCACAF is weak, but Mexico is anything but. I don't know what the f**k you're smoking. Also, Costa Rica and T&T are no pushovers. Guatemala and Honduras make a game of it and most others range for suck to supersuck.

Not a single Mexican plays in the English Premier League, the bestest league in the world.

So I doubt they're very good.

1. Carlos Vela and Giovani Dos Santos
2. Other nationals play for Barcelona, Deportivo La Coruna, Stuttgart, Alkmaar, PSV
3. That's a dumb f**king argument to begin with. They make considerable money playing in Mexico because they reap American dollars. There's not a ton of desire to leave for a league that benches them for overrated English players.
4. We see the Mexican national team and clubs all the time. They are quality. How often do you witness the actual games instead of praying to that debt bomb called the Premier League?
EDIT:
5. They are so good that they're continually invited to partake in Copa America, Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana despite being a part of CONCACAF. Club America even reached the semifinals of Copa Lib last year while being at the bottom of the table in their domestic league.

3. Um, American dollars are worth LESS than pounds.
4. Er how many times have Mexico won the world cup...ZERO! Point proven.

I'm beginning to think you're just joking.

By the way, you support a League One side and one which gets by on playing in a total sh*t comp. Why the double standards?
