Aus v Tonga sold out - Aus v NZ struggling to sell tickets

Thanks uso the welsh understand our plight very well. Those damn kiwis only want us when were in than throw us out when the season is different. Utterly hypocritical from the kiwis.

There will be more Samoans and Tongans born in Australia learning from the i.p.

I'm loving the talent coming through which will in turn give us a greater chance in defeating NZ who have had many years taking Australian i.p. and hopefully the England and Australia.

Even if the polys in NZ choose to pledge to kiwis no big loss. Kiwis also take "Australian born" kiwis but no one says anything about that, kiwis do not have an argument or leg to stand on.

You don't have a leg to stand on Koko you f*ckwit. You can barely compose decipherable sentences. How do we in NZ throw you islanders out when the season changes? Are we committing dawn raids after the RL season finishes?

So how do we think this potential full-strength Samoan side would fare against the current Tongan side, Australian New Zealand and England? Also how would this affect the Kiwis' ability to compete with Australia and England?

1. RTS
2. Maumalo
3. Leilua
4. Lafai
5. Tonumaipea
6. Brown
7. Lino
8. Asofa-Solomona
9. Godinet
10. Herman Ese'ese
11. Issac Liu
12. Taupau
13. Josh McGuire

Would this leave us with an international game that look something like this?:
1. Australia / England
2. New Zealand / Tonga / Samoa
3. PNG / France

Re: Ticket Sales

Looking on Ticketek still looks pretty grim. Top tiers of both grandstands are empty on the ends, and im not convinced that they have even put all the tickets on sale on the bottom stands. Feels very familiar to the 2017 RLWC when every second row was on sale, only some Bays put on sale.

A week out, a think 15k is the ceiling unless there is somesort of giveaway/serious promotion in Auckland. Forecast of rain doesn't help.

Well you don't use them then you use the next flavour of the month. Don't be so narrow minded with childish slang you damn know well. They play for the Island team then you come along and swoop them, you use the Island teams like trial teams then bring them into the fold, you have certainly become one eyed ha.

As I said,I don't think that Tonga's run is sustainable long term and there wont be much of a rivalry going forward if one side dominates all the time.

I'd be happy for the Kiwis to play them more but until this time last year we had no idea they would be good so it's unsurprising there are no games organised for this year - Oz could organise one because they're not going on a 4 test tour of the NH. But I'd also like to see the Kiwis play Oz more.

No ones saying it is bad for the international game, and all along only those three (Pangai is Australian isn't he?) have ever been mentioned as players NZ would have missed out.

Im not so sure bro theres a lot of good young tongan players coming through and they are all on the tonga bandwagon now. Nzrl farked it all up and set us back 10 years. it was the perfect storm of shitty coaching terrible captaincy against the peoples champ tonga who powered over us with a healthy mix of self belief and brotherhood backed by fanatic supporters. That same brotherhood or bro culture as some people call it won us the world cup in 08.

Yep this is one of the implications I spoke about before the Tongans left. I fear that our future Taumalolos, Vainikolos will be inspired by this Tongan team were seeing now, Australian Tongans could very well be hit too, so like your Folaus and so fourth.

You would expect money to lure players back but these guys are already on decent coin from their clubs and so they're playing for pride. You'd think the extra cash that you get with the kiwis would be good enough as its pretty good money. Whether the teams sustainable remains to be seen but this team has created an inspiration to young Tongans that could resonate through the generations, its a thing of movies.

We're definitely entering new times with situations we have never faced before and whilst highly doubtful - it could be years before a Tongan plays for the kiwis again.

After reading through the thread, there are a lot of points I agree with and a lot I disagree with.

As stated before, the face of Rugby League in NZ is brown, either Maori or Pacific Islander so any 'defection' from some of the P.Is players will put a dent in the team but the void can be filled with the Maori players as theres many of them. Also agree that Pacific Islanders have a stronger affiliation to their heritage than their adopted Countries, even if they were born and raised in those Countries, hence, the number of NZ born Tongan and Samoan supporters drowning out the Kiwi supporters at the game and on the street.

However, I disagree that the 'Maori-fication' of the team was the reason some of them defected as the 'marae-sleeping' happened after the defection, not before it. Also Maori have been well represented in previous kiwi teams including the 2008 RLWC winning squad where 12 of the squad had Maori heritage and 11 P.Is heritage. The problem was shit-break Kidwell, hes a crap coach doing silly things like leaving JT on the bench for the majority of that ANZAC test before the World Cup, pissed many off including myself. Then theres the shitbreak results in the previous 4N tournaments drawing with Scotland etc....Him and Kemble were shitbreak for the Kiwi's, did a lot of damage.

IMHO, the defection of the Tongan players is a good thing for Rugby League as it lifts the International game both on and off the field. Look at how the Tonga supporters supported their teams, thats a positive. I dont think they would've got that much support if JT and them didnt defect and long may it continue. The Kiwi's will survive as the majority of todays team are Maori and it still looks good.

EDIT to add: Allowing all Origin players to choose which International team to play for instead of forcing them to play for OZ will help the Kiwi's with guys like Ponga and Tamou. With the loosening of the Origin eligibility rule.to allow P.Is players to choose them, it gives them a boost but now the rule only hampers one team and that is the Kiwi's.

Wow, are you serious? You're a butthurt lil sook. It's called selecting the best team of New Zealanders available for NZ. So you think islander players should have permanent incumbency in the NZ side?

The island teams are lucky we even let them have our depth players, and now we've been bitten due to our kindness. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

No, it really is a struggle to understand you and I'm not the only one.
