Cricket is in awful shape when Cook can get a double century,Mitchell Johnson is the 7th ranked bowler in the world,Trott can average over 50 is test match cricket and Swann in the 2nd ranked bowler in the world.

The players are getting worse and worse(so are the crowds)

What drivel.

You can delete Cook off that list.

JOhnson is out of form, sure...

Whats wrong with Trott?

Swann has had a good start to his career - maybe the ranking system needs a tweak...

There is a massive shrotage of bowlers int he world, though.

The rest of your messgae is just B & M. Suck it up.

Raiders fans, where???

I laughed when I read that Joel Monaghan was unlikely to be charged, because beastiality is not illegal in the ACT... Australia, proud sponsors of beastiality, intrafamilial marriages, Nathan Hauritz, and Mitchell Johnson... bloodly brilliant!

Not sure whether there's a massive shortage of bowlers, or conditions (wickets, balls, outfields, equipment - bats, pads, helmets etc) have just swung things far too much in favour of batsmen?

What you mentioned helped but its a shortage of bowlers.

Steyn is world class... awesome player.

Asif is great - even the more so that he was a cheat and still bowled that well.

But when Khan is third ranked seamer there are major issues in world cricket with seam bowlers.

The spinners are all pie chuckers atm (incl Bhaji). The ball still swings and pitches still crack 0 but the current crop of bowlers running around are AVERAGE to below par.

England can still win this if Strauss shows some aggression. With 2 overs off for the change of innings there are 60 left in the day. Another quick 50-60 with some aggressive batting in 10-15 overs will have the run rate over 5.5 which won't be chased down on a wearing 5th day pitch. We could easily fold in 45 overs if we lose a couple early. Swan would be more than a handful on this deck aiming at the cracks as would Anderson.

The bowling plan was obvious - bowl short on leg until the batsman is set and seeing the ball like a pumpkin - then pitch it full and watch them drive with their eye in. By that time even if the misjudge the line they'll get a very thick edge for four.

England should just exhaust Australia and keep them in the field. Dishearten the opposition and let them know they're outplayed. Give them no chance for positives ahead of a very long series. THe media will create the win for England when Punter gets interviewed about his bowlers.

I wonder if Hilditch and Chappell still have those smug looks they had watching Siddle on day 1 and Hussey on 2&3?

A declaration by the Poms and then a calamitious batting collapse by our batters leading to defeat would be the best thing to happen to Australian cricket. We need some serious pain before we gain ...

Agree with you. But is shoudn't happen when the Ashes are played in Australia. It should have been change years ago. I could have copped being 5th in the world with a fresh start getting battled hardend for this series.
