LOL It's only been out five days.

They'll take in about 100million worldwide.

Not great, but not bad. Given the fact its about Australia and Australia is an isolated island of 20million people it was hardly going to capture the USAs imagination - which is over half the market.

The cynicism surrounding this movie is more baffling than any acclaim Nicole Kidman has earnt. Why the hate? Is it purely because of the blanket promotion? Or because of Luhrmann's supposed left-wing 'politically correct' leanings? Surely the Rob Schneider movie is more worthy of this kind of crap

The hate of this movie Australia in Australia is quite odd. It's not an historical epic. It's a larger than life epic, part romance, part adventure, part western, part war movie at the end.

She is terrible. Plastic fantastic and completely void of personality. She has literally made 10 terrible films to every half decent one she is in. Her Oscar was truly baffling

Just finished watching it and quite enjoyed the film.
Very raw and gritty film.

Difference is the above actually have talent...

Kidman parlayed a couple of aussie flicks into a couple of major US roles co-starring alongside husband Cruise and hasn't looked back.

.... having said that, she has certainly been attached to some dud movies over the years. It is amazing that she still commands the money that she does.

You do not get paid squillions of dollars to act in movies if you can't act.

For the record, I love Hugh Jackman. Terrific entertainer. Plus come on - he was Wolverine.

But plenty of hacks get paid big bucks to act - Halle Berry (she even won an Oscar ffs), George Clooney (compare him to the incomparable Denzel Washington and tell me who is the superior actor), Nicolas Cage (I like him, but the truth is he sucks).
