Here's a question about the movie for some of the experts on here..

Initially I was convinced one way about this but after it coming in conversation with a few people now I am not so sure. King George, the elderly Aboriginal who is Nulla's grandad. Was he real or was he meant to be a figment of Nulla's imagination/magical powers? The dude was everywhere.
He was real cos he was arrested and gaoled by white men for a crime a white man accused him of committing against another white man, when in fact it was the accusing white man who killed the white man.

The reason why white man has to be mentioned so often is to point out the bleeding f**king obvious that King George was real. If you were to assume he was a figment of Nulla's imagination you would also have to assume that the whole story itself was as well.

You must have been asleep through most of the movie. Hell even other white men and women saw King George. How could they see him, gaol him, frame him etc etc if he wasn't real?

Ok Keyboard hero.. I think he was real and still do but this was merely a question.

Got dragged along expecting a sappy Hollywood-style epic full of patronising Australianisms, lefty political points and other soft-cockery. And that's exactky what I got. But I promised to go in with an open mind and the film does have some merit. The cinematography is, at times, pretty amazing, but then it's a fair canvas to work with. Both the lead characters were annoying and quite unbelievable. But how good was the black kid? Best performance by far and not just because he's a kid. David Wenham was a pretty good bad guy too. There were a few little continuity issues too that made it look a bit amateurish at times. You can spend millions on special affects etc but basic stuff like that can cheapen it a fair bit. Obviously a few historical details were altered too to fit the story line as you'd expect. I don't think it was too far from the mark though, at least I think it was indicative of the time. Certainly better than that Ned Kelly BS. Overall not too bad if you can see past the soppy rubbish and lame acting of Kidman and Jackman.

I can't stand Nicole Kidman, I have heard from quite a few people who have worked with her on set that she is a snobby bitch, she seems cold as ice too, can't stand her.

I also agree that the title of the movie coupled with the cliches has kept me away, I won't watch it.

There is nothing about this movie that makes me want to spend a couple of hours watching it. A pretentious Luhrmann wank is what it sounds like. There is nothing he's done that I would bother with after sitting through 1/2 an hour of that stupid f**king Moulin Rouge sh*t and that Ballroom thing.

And I can't stand Kidman either.
