Wade McKinnon is right now finding out one of the disadvantages of playing for the Warriors. As Pricey did last last year.

Charlie, most Origin wingers are not club wingers - eg King, Mogg, Tate, Inglis etc. Slater can play in the wing.

Say where you said "most".
Slater aint most.
Very good custodian...but not a winger.

Slater is a fullback.
He was picked as winger before in origin and was hammered.

True but I think Billy's wisened up a lot since then, he's a far more complete player and would handle it a lot better now.

Had the same disadvantages last year.

But it's interesting - considering our glut of fullbacks, with Mini, Hodgeson and hunt injured, the likes of Bowen, McKinnon and Slater can't get a look in. Yet Hayne is on the wing.

Slater should have been at fullback, he ripped up in the Grand Final.
Him and Inglis have the switching of fullback role sorted. Price at least is in the team for once thats a start.

No offence, but you've got nothing to complain about in terms of Wade.

Slater,Stewart,Bowen >Mckinnon it's just unfortunate that he's behind a number of other talented fullbacks.

I would rate McKinnon just as good a player as Stewart. I don't think that McKinnon should have neccessirly been the fullback for Australia....but to not even make the train on squad after his season must have been pretty disapointing.

not the best aussie side I've seen

Stewart at fb given Slater played the full 80 and tore up the manly side.... steve price on the bench instead of starting

Quite happy with the halfback choice

Sticky came out and singled out the GF halves as the favs for the spot.

Cronk over Orford any day of the week. Orford seems to put up the 'gone fishing' sign come big games.

Still, would of thought Scott Prince had a shot

Oh ok yeah well that's totally understandable then.

To be honest I would have thought they'd select a fullback/five-eighth in the #1 jersey with Bird at five-eighth, to link up in the halves in attack. I can appreciate that Brett Stewart has played well to get his spot but your 1/6/7 is Stewart/Bird/Cronk ... talk about an unlikely looking combination. I can't see those three being cohesive in any way shape or form, although sometimes the unlikely combinations can surprise you.

Something like Slater/Prince/Cronk with Bird coming off the bench would have made more sense to me to be honest.

I feel sorry for Matty Bowen, the bloke has done all he can to get that test jersey. And Kite, how does that Pillow continue to be selected in rep jersey's???? And i would have gone for Prince over Cronk.

I see Aussie have gone for 5/8's on one side of the park.

Gasnier

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with many: a team picked on form. Crocker's inclusion could be the goods.

Should have been

Slater
Hayne
Gasnier
Hodges
Inglis
Anasta/Prince
Cronk
Price
Smith
Civoniceva
Watmough
Hoffman
Gallen

Bird/Bowen/Kidley
Crocker
Mason (though i was tempted to put Laffranchi)
Bailey/Cross

That team would have given NZ nightmares.
