In fact, I'm sure I heard the word Aboriginal used in the movie when describing the indigenous population
lol Legend.

Your best redneck post ever. I had not thought how it would piss right wingers off.

Dances with wolves with big guns on a cool world.

Enjoyed it.

Movie was good, overall. Earns a solid 8/10 from me.

Starts off pretty slow. Was thinking, "how is this getting rave reviews?" and was pretty preoccupied with adjusting my face to fit two glasses.. couldn't see crap using my myopia riddled eyes to watch the big screen.. happened to spill my coke as well.. "f*ck me dead"

ah yes, well after the first hour.. i really enjoyed the remaining hour and 40 minutes.

Yes the story line has been done to death and there are some cliched moments/lines.. but the visuals, character development(i thought this was pretty decent) and battle scenes, i found, made up for it.

Isnt 'aboriginal' a synonym for 'indigenous'? To my knowledge both words mean 'native people'.
I hope I havent offended anyone with any ignorance on my behalf.

Correct. Australian aborigines are just one type of aborigine, the term refers to indigineous or original people anywhere, although the only other place I've heard it used outside Australia is in Taiwan.

Saw it today in 3D IMAX, had the two glasses experience as well.

It was a CGI fest, but it's pretty darn good CGI! I didn't think the first hour was slow, as I was expecting more sci-fi not an action movie. If anything I thought the second section got a bit boring with all the ammo and it laboured the point a bit?

But it's brave to make a big anti-military film in America, so I guess they had to make the message simple and keep repeating it, and use action sequences to put it across to the majority public. I don't mind political undertones in films, so wasn't offended in the slightest...

Overall worth seeing on the big screen, rather than waiting for home. Go in expecting nothing and just enjoy it for what it is. :thumn

haha if it has to be that big then there really are no other movies to compare it to.

But really the war in Iraq (and increasingly now Afghanistan) is so unpopular I think it would be more "brave" for a pro-war/military movie to be released in the mainstream.

I haven't seen Lions for Lambs start to finish yet but after seeing bits and pieces I wouldn't mind seeing the whole thing. Let me know how it goes.

I fail to see how my post was in any way redneck. I was just seeking clarification on the term used in the film and IMO, it was done for pc effect. I had done some research into James Cameron films such as Aliens and the themes are concurrent IMO.

Just calling it as I see it.

Lions for Lambs is about the war in Afghanistan from the perspective of an ambitious congressman, two soldiers and their former lecturer at uni.

It's not very long but a thought provoking and enjoyale movie by Robert Redford, who directs and stars.

They use the term native and aboriginal to describe the humaniods on the moon. You call pc I call using the english language without being repetitive and perhaps teaching children to use the language better, hey it worked on you.

Yes it has similar aspects to other films that show that so called advanced cultures can be brutal when imposing thier will on so called inferior cultures. Last of the mohicans, dances with wolves, samurai are movies with similar stories.

Man not just whitey has done this over many centuries.

It poses the question, have we learnt from the way we (we being man not just whitey) exploits and takes what they want without any compassion for what was already there. That is should we find a moon or planet, do we simply destroy what is there to get what we want. Who are the real savages?

In the movie it points out there are other deposits of the mineral, they are futher away and would be less cost effective, so we simply destroy the natives home rather than get it elsewhere.

Seems to me there are clearly some like you who would be happy to blow away culture you deem inferior to get to a mineral you deem valuable.

I like lions for lambs too.

Same here for the 2 glasses experience - must be a bunch of 4-eyed geeks on this forum?

I saw it yesterday, and thought it was pretty good. Visually spectacular, and ok as an overall story/movie. Not sure its something I'd want to see again - once you strip away the awe from the visuals, the movie is ok but not special.

Also Legend Cameron has said he is thinking of a triology, so the empire may strike back.

This movie was a steaming pile of sh*t. A cavalcade of woeful actors, no genuinely engaging stroyline of which to speak, and visuals which were vastly, vastly over-rated by the media and the like.

So, so, so crap.
