FMD...so now Dragons reportedly trying to offload Dufty cause he is lazy off the ball. I can feel Draq Queen, Carlton & Possum choking on their corn flakes out as they read it...coming out with the...I told yous all so..
More like the coaching staff are too lazy to do anything about it and dont know how to discipline, improve and coach. Yeh let go our best attacking weapon for years and lets sign another reserve grader (someone mentioned GGMoseby from Nth Qld) who cant wait to be overpaid at the Saints. No wonder when they come here they say how much it is great to play for this great club. Fuming  right now and need the calm one's advice

This sounds like a bit of a beat up. Having said that, Duff comes across like an Akila Uate type where he was just faster and more skillful than any other kid his age and managed to get into every junior rep team through virtue of his gifts. I doubt he really had to work hard to make it as a junior but that won’t cut it in the NRL. Benefit of the doubt for all parties at this stage.

Dragons trying to win a premiership over the next 2 years and know they can’t w Dufty at Fullback.. he’s a liability in many areas .. I still think Corey Norman or Hayne is coming .. if Norman comes expect Widdop to FB!!!!

You can’t count zero, according to some on here..

But.. keeping it on track, the storm could use him.

Titans (Brimson to 5/8th), maybe Dogs, Nulla as Holmes will go end of year, Parra as Gutherson can play anywhere in the backs and I wont steal Muzby's thunder. Canberra Wighton should be a centre. So maybe 6 + Dragons need him ATM

Disagree we have plenty of strong outside backs juniors coming through not to mention Jai Field who can actually defend and has better ball playing skills with very similar pace who can cover both the halves and FB (it you don’t believe me watch the 2nd tigers game of this year when he came on he was making one on one tackles with no qualms)

I’d be a lot more disappointed if we lost Jai then if we lost dufty. He’s lazy and scared to defend. NEXT

NEXT is Jai Field can not defend at fullback, worse than Dufty, especially if he has to paly 1st grade, that is why they played him at 5/8th in ISP at the back half. If you have watched ISP Field I agree is an attacking weapon and has improved but he is no better f/back than Dufty. MOVING RIGHT ALONG

If we are trying to win a premiership in the next 2 years the biggest change should be getting decent coaching staff....That's it in a nutshell.

With all due respect there are clubs who are interested in him or were the last time around...will have no trouble being picked up by another club...watch this space.

If this is correct, our club is absolutely clueless.
There may well be clubs interested in him, he’d be a very good backup fullback. There were clubs interested in Mitch Rein too - admittedly Dufty is a few levels above him but considering they both burst onto the scene with promising breakout seasons despite some obvious deficiencies, Dufty could follow a similar path if he doesn’t rectify his issues in core skills for his position.

Question is, at which club would Dufty be first choice fullback? Maybe Titans? Any others?

Dufty was a half that was shifted to fullback in Harold Matthews by Graeme Wynn from memory. That opened up some opportunities for him, as he probably wouldn’t have made it as a half. I don’t think he was outstanding at any level, definitely not consistent over a season. No surprise the same happened. He disappeared for big period of the game, as the season went on.

If he is not doing the work necessary, unlikely he is going to improve. He doesn’t have the advantage of just being a straight out talent. That’s usually not enough in any case.

Plenty of others mentioned above and also Broncos who will be losing plenty when Wayne goes.
There is a lot of truth re what people have written re Dufty's rise and his deficiencies but the actual question is what can a really good coach do with him in a 2 year space?
People are just looking at this next season and not beyond and in the mean time we have waisted valuable time whilst we have had him.
If Mc Fookknuckle stays on for 2019 and is extended all our players < 23 years of age should leave as they will all fail to improve or land a regular 1st grade job.
Dufty may in fact never make it but we are never going to find out whilst he is here with our clueless lot and we are still allowing others time to find out what they can do with him.
Billy Slater he ain't but Lachlan Coote?

Nope, eggs and avos for me. Cornflakes are full of sugar and salt. PS. Didn't know Duff was going anywhere. Where is he going?

looks like anywhere where Dragons can give him...or it could be the kick up the backside he needs as i hope he stays. Avo & eggs that is very trendy and the mod way these days!. Corn Flakes and Vita brits for me with fruit salad and full cream milk..and of course cappucino

More likely the Titans go with Brimson at fullback with Roberts or Jacks in the halves. Maybe the Bulldogs.

I think the clubs that would be most interested are ones with a few fullback options and where Dufty would have to compete. You could make a case for a few clubs here. He could back himself but also disappear pretty quickly too. he may have no choice but to do this too. I think his best chance of being a long term first grader is staying where he is though at this stage.

He’s not a patch on 2015 Coote, YET (if at all).
As for ‘plenty of clubs’ the only one where he slots into #1 straight away is Dogs as watatank mentioned - Titans get a better net result with Brimsom at fullback (at best, Dufty has to compete), Cotric will be #1 for Raiders next year and no chance Dufty dislodges him, Holmes is still at Sharks next year (plus they have Moylan still), Hughes is a superior option at Melbourne (who also have Papenhuzyn) and Gutherson is light years ahead at Parra. So no club desperately needs him, there is a glut of high quality fullbacks at the moment and if he were to leave, at best he’d be competing for a spot. If attitude is his problem, it would be in his best interest to stay put and fix it. So looking at that, we potentially have the 15th or 16th best first choice fullback in the comp, indicating it’s an area we need to improve.

That being said - we do get a far better outcome by replacing the head coach and associated staff rather than turning over players simply because he can’t coach or develop them properly. A decent coach would likely be able to enhance Dufty’s core skills to a point that he heads up that list of fullbacks!

With all due respect, show me the other 14 fullbacks who are better than Dufty. I bet their showreels from this season don't eclipse this....

Agree 100 % re Coaching staff.
