Yep. In a way I hope they go big. As unKiwi as it sounds hopefully it raises the spotlight on Southee, Boult and Santner who are not performing.

The Bangers have batted well but gee the Kiwis have bowled poorly, Boult seems to have fallen off a cliff and Southee is just plodding it around these days. Wagners rope a dope strategy can't work all the time.

It doesn't look like there's any kind of plan, tbh. Either from Bradmanson, the bowling group or the coaching staff. It's just "well I'll try this for a delivery....hmm that didn't work, I'll try a short one....maybe not, how about full and wide?" Shakib is a very good player, particularly on the off side and they've just let him release pressure every few balls, which has meant that Mushfiqur can just plod along in a support role taking no risks at all. Try something ffs! Stack the offside to Shakib, come around the wicket angling it in at the top of off and cramp him up rather than letting him free his hands through cover, which he absolutely loves.

They honestly look like a team who expect to win. It's like they've gone "It's only Bangladesh, they'll fall in a heap eventually..." They're too good to have that attitude against these days

It's a one man attack. JJ is 100% right. When Bond and Donald were the bowling coaches, basic things like seam presentation were perfect. Southee was a good 5 or so Ks quicker as he was bowling through the crease towards the target. He was Hazlewood like under Bond and Donald. Boult genuinely had vicious late swing. The spell he bowled to Australia at the World Cup was quite regular.

Now they look clueless. Both sides of the wicket, miss their lengths badly, their bowling mechanics look ordinary.

It's a one man attack. Unless Wagner rolls the middle with energy, the others are nothing more than plodders.

The number of wides they bowled in the limited overs stuff was red alert that they are out of form. Williamson as a captain lacks energy and drive to invent change like McCullum.

Just looked, Shakib has hit 16 boundaries. 14 on the off side. 12 through point and cover. Surely that tells Bradmanson something?

98 overs gone and Dropner is about to bowl his 7th over. Williamson either dreads him or he has no imagination.

I don't know if Kane can be entirely blamed. He is a young captain these things happen.

The bowlers going through the motions started before Kane Imo. I thought they did that against us every time a batsmen got set and that was under bmac.

Maybe he's not going to do the job I don't know but this has been going on since Bond left the coaching staff.

They wasted the new ball. Just sprayed it all over the shop.

Agree. In regards to Santner, he epitomises everything wrong with the direction New Zealand cricket is taking. The guy barely turns the ball and his batting is average to say the least. He is the kind of player that at best will average about 40 with the ball and 25 with the bat. Not good enough as a front line bowler and not good enough as a top 6 batsman.

We are certainly allowing them to bat a bit. Terrible all round effort. Boult has been a bit unlucky, but again since his back injury in the uk he hasn't been the same. Southee has some good spells then some awful ones. We know there's the talent there and I'm happy cutting a young captain some slack (and there are literally no options anyway), so to me some questions need to be directed at the coaches, management and selectors. Santner is a myth, not yet good enough with bat or ball, we simply have to pick a spinner. Nicholls is terrible, Brownlie should be playing, and if Neesham is fit and we are want a 6 who can bowl 15 overs I am not sure what else he needs to prove. Should be a draw though

Mushfiqur is a fine keeper-bat, no mistake

Shakib has scored just 6 runs through mid off to mid on, that says it all.

Jurgo was a massive plodder and it seems his coaching is at the same level.

Personally, I'm certainly not blaming him wholly and solely by any means. It looks like nobody has a plan, from the top down.

At the same time though as captain he could and should be doing a lot more. Better to try something and fail than to let the game drift out of your hands IMO. And tbh the plan for a guy like Shakib doesn't need to be ground breaking. Cramp him up and choke him out of the game. So far all they've done is bowl just about exactly what he wants

Essentially someone be it the captain, coach or ultimately the selectors needs to put a foot up the arse of the kiwi quicks.

We know they have talent but they havent shown much for a good 18 months now in test cricket. Boult hasnt looked good since his back injury, southee has always been inconsistent. They were whitehot during their peak but have looked average since then.

Its not like they got old. They are both 27/28.

Yep

Glad they checked that. Not out but given it was in his gloves the whole time he felt it there and thought he caught it

I'd honestly consider dropping them. They aren't irreplaceable and they're bowling like rubbish anyway so it's not like you'll be replacing them with blokes who are bowling lots worse. A nice tactical dropping should fire them up surely.

Southee is the one that should go IMO straight swap for Henry

Boult has been better and shows signs of getting back. We don't have the depth to drop both esp with a Bracewell hurt

But first I'd be asking one what it takes to get him involved

Also, Santner has to be replaced with someone who can actually bowl

The problem is depth though. Matt Henry has gone downhill even worse, Doug Bracewell is a poor mans Paul Wilson, and we've all lol'd at Lockie Ferguson.
