To which he served time in prison for, after having his contract torn up and de-registered for over 2 years. He worked for 12 months outside football, before making a comeback at NSWRL level for 12 months and then at NRL level. Since he has been back in the game he has not re-offended. I mean what?! He should be punished again eh?
As to the wider issue with people wanting the policy made retrospective, trust me here, if the NRL tried to do it, even if the RLPRA were ok with it, any effected player would be able to take them to court and get it tossed. Changes in laws apply from the date they are changed. It is very rare for places like Parliament, when passing laws, to make them retrospective, and often when it is done, it was announced it would apply from a set date, not going back infinitely. I've seen enough legislative drafting in the last 30 years to have some idea on this point.
