It's Greenberg's middle name.Todd Greenberg said:damage to the game
Someone should remind Todd/NRL the sort of people that play rugby league.
He's done the time for his crime. That's the last I have to say on the matter as: (a) It isn't going to change your opinion; and (b) It isn't going to see the new policy applied to him for something he was punished for more than 5 years ago.
I guess what's confusing then is - when is it appropriate to draw the line in the sand? The NRL seems doomed whatever they do:I am not trying to get the new policy applied in retrospect. I am pointing how f**king ridiculous and hypocritical we look as a game. Ban one bloke for life for something another guy gets let back in for. And how the f**k has this not been a policy already????? That is the real question. Forget white ribbon round, domestic violence is only worthy of a life ban if it is damaging the games image? Greenberg is the biggest moron. People like Tetevano should of been banned for life as soon as he pleaded guilty to all those charges, the fact that he went to jail for beating his missus up and terrorizing her so many times means he is more likely to be allowed back does it? What a f**king joke.
Its like Billy Moore said, all this talk about white ribbon round and women in league from the nrl and the clubs is just lies and bullshit, they don't give a shit. They should change it to "Buzz Rothfield round" because they only start caring once that fool gets up on his high horse and starts bagging people.
I guess what's confusing then is - when is it appropriate to draw the line in the sand? The NRL seems doomed whatever they do:
They're f**ked in a PR sense no matter what because one group of fans/media/clubs will always be unhappy with whichever outcome is chosen.
- Change nothing, let Barba back in one day etc etc - not good
- Do what they're doing now, starting from now blah blah - not good
- Do what they're doing now AND retrospectively apply it - not good
Worth remembering that the ones before the courts are ones he can't comment on yet.The problem is Todd(and the game) has been talking the talk for a while now and taking the good PR generated from it but they have not been walking the walk. It should be pretty obvious that a game that has a "white ribbon round" should not be letting guys with multiple domestic violence charges be a part of their organisation.
The fact that it taken an offseason where we have had several high profile assault charges handed out for them to draw a line in the sand speaks volumes about the man and the organisation he is leading.
