What the hell? You are creating your own argument to respond too. I am criticising his inconsistent and re-active leadership, if that is too complicated for you too understand then just ignore me.
My argument all along is that Greenberg has finally done the right thing and he's being shit upon for it.

Look at it this way, in the here and now. We can't go back in time. What is the best thing for him to do regarding this Barba incident now?

Answer: Exactly what he has done

I've never said he was perfect or that his past decisions were correct. Just that he should be getting some credit for finally doing the right thing and finally showing some leadership.

Instead he is being attacked for doing the right thing. It's entirely irrational. Sure he could've done it sooner, I've never argued against that, but so could have every other game CEO, but none of them are being criticised for their inaction here.

If Ken Arthurson had've brought in zero tolerance against assaults of all nature against women, then the Coffs Harbour saga wouldn't have happened....

Using past failures to criticise someone when they do they right thing is counter-productive and just a continuation of outrage-seeking, the same thing many people criticise the Daily Telegraph of doing.

He’s being shit upon for being bad at his job. He’s been in top nrl jobs for years and the fact it’s taking this long for him to get it right it’s most certainly worth criticising IMO.

Who praises a bloke for getting it right after years of getting it wrong? It’s not rocket science. If he’d been getting it right from day one we wouldn’t be having this offseason from hell. Not long ago the NRL was fining Paul Gallen 50k for swearing on twitter now the NRL are helping players get off drink driving charges.

Your Ken Arthuson argument is flawed. Greenberg since becoming CEO has been more lenient on player misbehaviour than his predecessors and now look at the offseason it has led us too.

Was this before or after he punched David Morrow's daughter?

"SYDNEY Roosters hooker Jake Friend has been fined $10,000 by the NRL club and ordered to undergo counselling and education after he was charged for a high range drink driving offence on Monday night.
Friend and his manager Steve Gillis met with the Roosters' disciplinary committee today where it was decided he would be heavily fined. He was earlier named on the interchange bench for Sunday's clash with Canberra and won't be stood down by the club."

Seems to be still playing

That was in March 2009.

The incident with Morrow's niece was in late June 2009. It came about because Friend was on the grog again (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2009-06-29/roosters-pair-charged-with-assault/1336240)

In December 2009, the Roosters sacked Friend after he again got on the grog, passed out in a cab, refused to pay the fare, and then used offensive language against the police officers who were called in to rouse him from the cab. He spent 6 months working in a sandwich shop before the club decide to re-hire him (just to refresh your memory - https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/s...e/news-story/d099cd674f5ca5014f1cb1f2e6bc8ea0)

Off field, Friend has been in the clear ever since.

The million dollar question is; Why take this stance now, on Barba, and not on the others who've committed similar crimes this off season? Why single out just 1 bloke? And I seriously think he needs to publically address the GI reference - that is a clear double standard.
My best guess is that most of the matters from this off-season are before the courts and preclude the NRL from issuing a punishment. This matter as far as I understand isn't subject to any legal proceedings.

So
Greenmerk has finally got around to seeing the cctv footage and has said Barba is gone for good.
If the other blokes who have upcoming court cases are found guilty you would have to think that they too will be banned for life.

Let’s see how he handles it.

“I need to be a little careful here because this will now form a police investigation which is currently ongoing today but it was a physical altercation that’s all I needed to see and all I needed to be told in order to make the decision we’ve made,” he said.

“I haven’t seen it but it was described to me in great detail a”

“That’s all I needed to SEE” ....”I haven’t seen it but it was described to me in great detail “

Is this guy for real? You know like a professional at what he does? He says himself in the article that you need to be careful because kids livelihoods are involved, but not enough to see it for yourself?

If it was the norm - the NRL wouldn't have repeat offenders.

Really?
The NRL goes above and beyond in trying to educate these f**kheads and make them into less shit humans. A lot of players come from backgrounds and circumstances where this behaviour is the norm.

Let's say 21 year old superstar Ben Lodge gets life banned from the only good thing he's ever managed to put together in his life.

Does he become a better or a worse man as a result? Is he more or less likely to re-offend?

And the kicker - you might think well it's not in the NRL's hands at least, but it will STILL be reported in every major paper as FORMER NRL STAR.

It's not a black and white issue.
