2nd Announcement from BDO website

New additions to BIG DAY OUT 2008: silverchair, Spoon, Augie March, Brand New, Regurgitator, Anti-Flag, Karnivool, Carl Cox, Pnau, Kate Nash, Josh Pyke, beXta, Shy Child, Gyroscope, Enter Shikari, Operator Please, Unkle (live), Goodwill, Krafty Kuts & MC Dynamite, Die! Die! Die!, The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello acoustic),Blue King Brown, Dr Octagon with Kutmaster Kurt, British India, Aceyalone, Krill

Probably better then the first announcement. British India looks the pick for mine and I'm seeing them next weekend for $20

I can't wait to see Spoon, Billy Bragg, Paul Kelly, Rage, Gyroscope, Josh Pyke, Augie March, the Arcade Fire, Blue King Brown, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Bjork, Battles.

It's a pretty epic lineup, really.

Rage ripped up Auckland on Friday, something I will never forget, absolutely unbelievable.

Arcade Fire weren't far behind either.

the only other highlight of the day ware th guys who made a sign "Operator Please Shut the f**k Up" and held it up while they were on stage, funny sh*t

Just quietly Rage and Karnivool were the only decent bands on the bill. Soundwave will crush the BDO.

Went yesterday and I ended up having a better time than I did last year despite the quality of the acts IMO going down.

While I was there I managed to catch the following acts, keep in mind I count catching an act as atleast seeing 2-3 full songs rather than catching entire sets, so please keep that in mind.

Something With Numbers
Operator Please
British India
Anti-Flag
Josh Pyke
Kate Nash
Midnight Juggernauts
Gyroscope
Dizzie Rascall
Spoon
Hilltop Hoods
Grinspoon
Arcade Fire
Dead Letter Circus
Silverchair
Bjork
Paul Kelly
Rage Against The Machine

A couple of notes about yesterday that I found hilarious.

As Twiz pointed out, that Operator Please STFU sign was hilarious. My mate and I were heading for some shelter on the green stage and on the way there we were ripping into Operator and saw this sign.

They had a Channel V stage which allowed people to sit around while they handed out free lollies, water and ice fresh cordial. Great idea and it was great to see some of the hosts mingling in with the crowd. James Kerlay in particular is a stand up guy and it's not the first time I've seen him give others the time of day.

Dizzie Rascals set saw a guy climb one of the stage support mechanisms which halted the set. The funny thing was seeing the barrage of cans go his way as the set was halted.

Lots of fights started during the Grinspoon set. I blame it on the luke-warm performance. If it wasn't for the crowd that set would've died on it's arse big time.

Silverchair to no surprise were average. Mostly played stuff from Young Modern and 3 songs from their earlier stuff. The only highlight was seeing Daniel Johns trying to start the crowd by using this horribly fake American Accent and him getting nothing but luke warm reactions.

Bjorks set was incredibly weird yet at the same time enticing. Being vague with her line of work probably made her show difficult to understand for me and my mate however I did like the light show she had among a lot of other interesting aspects of her show.

As for Rage, they were still as good as they ever had been, however the crowd was average up until Killing In The Name Of. I don't know if it because Rage don't have a lot of sing-along esque songs but it seemed like the majority of the crowd who were there were only there for the hype and nothing more. Also the sound wasn't as enticing as Bjork or heck Paul Kelly who we went to see after hearing his noise over-ride Rage from one area of the main stage. The funny thing was his area was barely half-full.

LOL at yourself, the BDO is a rip off and this year would have to be without a shadow of a doubt the worst line up they have ever presented.

im going bdo and i would agree that its a pretty rubbish lineup (with RATM tho, so that should be awesome, plus the hard ons and a couple of others). However soundwave is sh*thouse, f**kin incubas? whole lot of rubbish hardcore acts blah

Nothing wrong with metal, but hey if Bjork and fagchair float your boat, then enjoy.

I am personally not into offspring or IncubUs, but if they were at the BDO they would be headlining and all you BDO lovers would be creaming your pants.

Check out bands like Still Remains and Killswitch Engage, they made be "hardcore" but they have more talent than all the BDO artists combined.

lol, i hate bjork and silverchair are very crap as well. Im going for rage against the machine and probly watch the hard ons whilst there and just cruise the rest of the day.

Im no BDO lover, i just dont like hardcore much either apart from parkway occasionally. Hence my like of the old warped tour, despite its flaws it still managed to group together many of the bands i like on one day, which no other festival does.

2002 Warped Tour was great.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Pennywise
The Vandals
28 Days
Guttermouth
MxPx
Area 7
All

Can't even remember the rest.... but they were great (except New Found Glory)

Cracking day on Sunday! Saw British India, Faker, Gyroscope, Spoon, Pnau, Arcade Fire, Silverchair, Bjork and RATM. Along with bits of Grinspoon, and Antiflag.

Silverchair was f**king woeful. Spot on with that remark about johns' american accent and annoying banter. A liked the guys wandering around with shirts that said frogstomp or f**K off.

Bjork was good but completely the wrong set time and stage. Nothing irritates me more than bogans whinging cause the one band they came to see didn't start playing before they were meant to.

Rage were freaking awesome though, Big Pete.. i'm not sure where you were but the crowd was going mental where i was. Could have been a little louder than they were though.

Besides Rage, my highlight would be the end of the arcade fire set. Breaking into a cover of Pixies Wave of Mutilation and one of the percussionists running through the middle of the D with his drum. Also onstage drum throwing fight and some cool tambourine tricks.

Daniel Johns sounded pathetic and he should just shut up between songs

The only song that got the mosh pit jumping was Freak, now if that doesn't send him a message he's blind

his new stuff is just pop music, their old stuff was OK

and whats with the 3 black back up singers and a brass section ?
